The Garden Plate collection features notable urban parks and gardens from around the world. While the color palette and graphic language coordinate with our existing City Plate collection (so you can intermix), the Garden Plates focus on the contrast between the organic elements of the highlighted park and the surrounding urban context. The first series showcases New York City’s Central Park, the first large-scale (843 acres) public space in the United States, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1858.

Each of the four plates highlights a different segment of the Park: the Sheep Meadow, the Great Lawn, the Reservoir, and the North Meadow. Featured landmarks from the surrounding urban environs include The Central Park Zoo, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The American Museum of Natural History, and The Guggenheim Museum. Trees, pathways, and bodies of water are articulated to convey the landscape design and help trigger people’s memories of where they may have strolled, taken a bike ride, or picnicked.
