In off mode, YOY Light looks like a starkly minimalist white steel rod. But when you flick the switch, the silhouette of a classic lampshade appears, thanks to an LED lamp that projects the shadow of a lampshade onto the wall. Created by up-and-coming Japanese designers Naoki Ono and Yuuki Yamamoto, it’s a striking bedside lamp, nightlight or ambient lighting piece that stimulates conversation. The energy efficient, high-powered LED unit emits 100 lumens. Works best when set 20″ from the wall.
