A cheap idea that he might like for a night light, that you may possibly already have on hand are holiday lights! We used a string of holiday lights for awhile, and then not long ago found some discounted colorful lantern party light type things that he really likes. I think he enjoys it so much due to being able to hang them up around his bed.

But I'm pretty sure we paid no more than $5 for them on sale at some place like dollar general or walmart. I would definitely not pay $20 from amazon!
