Interestingly, the first review just hit Amazon today! And I don’t want to spoil it because there’s one aspect that’s quite interesting...

If you really need no more than a 2060 card, then you don't have to spend anywhere near $2000. At closer to $2000 though, you could get something with the 2070 card which is more powerful and future proof.

This Acer Predator Triton 500 is a bit pricey for a 2060 card, but its other features and based on what you want have made it pretty worthy. Its very slim and light weighted, has a good build quality, great display and most of all handles heat very well. It also has a wonderful keyboard and you will get very much over 2 hours battery life easily. This AORUS 15-X9-RT4BD is cheaper and is also a very good option.

If you want to go for the 2070 card, the two options below are great picks.

  1. AORUS 15-X9-RT4BD

  2. ASUS ROG Zephyrus S

NB: The ROG is lighter and thinner, but it has a slightly weaker graphics card in the rtx 2070 max q variant while the Aorus above has the full 2070. The ROG also has a pretty strange keyboard and you might want to get a mouse to use with it if it is your pick.

This one has a 2070 max p so it has maybe a 10-15% performance drop compared to a full 2070.

Asus has bad customer service sometimes.

These are two good options I could find with an rtx 2070 and meeting your budget and other stuff like refresh rate, Cpu etc. 8750h and 9750h are almost the same in terms of performance so don't worry about that. Good luck.

Aorus 15-X9-RT4BD is also a great option at $1948 on Amazon for full RTX2070 8GB VRAM 15" 144Hz screen 16GB RAM 512 SSD and 2 TB HDD

Check out the Aorus 15! I just got one and it is incredible! Depending on the graphics card they start at like $1800 for a 2060 I believe! The 2070 is on sale from Amazon right now too (https://www.amazon.com/Special-AORUS-15-X9-RT4BD-i7-8750H-2666MHz/dp/B07MW5YKZC) Its been one of the best laptops I have ever used! Aorus is owned by Gigabyte too, so its a huge company, not some random brand that makes laptops! Good luck in your search!

Ok I know this is slightly above your $2000 budget at $2085.99 but it's a great buy. You get a 15.6 inch ips fhd 144hz display 512GB NVME storage 2tb hard drive(I looked for a 2tb model since you travel a lot) RTX 2070 (yeah light gaming WILL be a BREEZE) and 16GB ram at 2666mhz. Here https://www.amazon.com/AORUS-15-X9-RT4BD-i7-8750H-GeForce-2666MHz/dp/B07MW5YKZC/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?keywords=gaming+laptops&qid=1550979831&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A7817230011&rnid=562234011&s=electronics&sr=1-11

But if you strictly need to stay under $2000 you can get the same laptop for $1799 but only difference is the Graphics card which is a RTX 2060 in the case of the $1799 model. Here is the link for the Cheaper model

Hope I helped and let me know your thoughts on this.

First of all, great post.

I'm trying to decide which laptop to buy, whatever gives the best performance for the price.

I think that the non-mxq 2070 is the best bet for price/perf, since its quite faster than the 2060 and not that far from 2080 (since 2080s are at least $900-1000 more)

I couldn't find much info about this two, but for the price, I'm thinking on getting one of these:

Omen by HP 2019 17-cb0040nr

they are supposed to be full 2070 (not maxq) so that is pretty close to a 2080 maxq for way less $

Of course if you think there's something better let me know.
