Good points.

I recommend "Sixty Seconds and You're Hired." Link. Of all the books TRP will read in the upcoming year (and TRPers should be reading), be sure to include one that directly impacts your ability to successfully find work.

This is a common question, especially now:

  • Remind them you are flexible
  • Sell your ability to learn quickly and pick up the details
  • As others suggested, tell them you are open to any opportunity they may see you as a good fit for

A book you may be interested in:

It also never hurts to spruce up your resume and go over your cover letter.

I used that book plus another book (the title of which I forget, but it was a cover letter/resume book), and I was hired 1 month after graduating in 09, during what was literally, one the worst month for hiring.

As a fresh graduate, you are not expected to know in-depth what an actuarial consultant does. You will just be supporting credentialed actuaries for the first few years.

More helpful to you would be something that improves your interview skills. I have used this book 60 Minutes & You're Hired and found it to be pretty useful.
