Unfortunately, nobody really makes just that specific cable. It's an internal 9 pin female to 9 pin female cord. You're more likely going to find extension cables (male to female) than that.

It's an unusual cable, so the only way you'd be able to get one is if you either make one yourself or you buy something like this and simply use the cable.

FYI, you only need that cable if you plan on using Bluetooth. If you don't care about Bluetooth, you can skip the cable as WiFi will work perfectly fine over PCIe.

>The case has four front USB ports, the motherboard will only support the cable for two of them. I couldn't get the other two attached to the MB. I guess I need a USB MB Y-cable or something, but I haven't been successful in finding it.

There are some for USB 2.0. Cheap or Fancy.
For USB 3+ I think you need to use a PCIe card.

That’s odd. My solution would be to get this splitter. I have this splitter myself with no complains. Obviously no software required and works perfectly as expected. Not sure why the USB on your commander pro isn’t functioning, but this can be the only solution I can provide. Others may have different solutions. You could always try submitting an RMA or calling Corsair support over the phone.

I have had no issues hooking up my LL120's in the 280x case using Y-splitters for fan power. The RGB cables from each fan go into the RGB hub box, as usual (then from the hub box into the included lighting node in the 280x). The fans are 4-pin so be sure to get 4-pin splitters, originally I had some that were 4-pin on one end and 3-pin on the other and needed new ones.

If you do need another USB header, I found a cheaper USB splitter on Amazon that works very well and is far cheaper than the NZXT hub (though the NZXT hub is a lot more flexible).

In my 280x build, I have a H100i as exhaust; the fans it came with are connected to the pump itself for both power and RGB. The included LL120's in front and on bottom are all connected to the included hardware in the 280x (RGB hub and then into port #1 on the lighting node pro). The fans are powered off motherboard fan headers with Y-splitters, two per header. This means I only get RPM reports for one fan (the other is just pass-through power) but since the fans are identical it's not a big issue. The AIO is hooked up to the AIO fan header. I have one of those USB splitters linked to to connect both the H100i and the lighting node to a single USB 2 internal header. No issues at all with this setup.

I also have a lighting node pro expansion kit (RGB strips) in there hooked up to the 280x's native lighting node on port #2.

You could opt for a Commander pro, which is nice because it breaks out every fan's RPM separately, but it's a bit pricey if you have enough fan headers on your motherboard, and it sounds like you can get by without it.

I used these splitters from Amazon but only because I was in a hurry and they were same-day delivery. They're kind of short to pass through the top opening in the 280x, but they just barely reached. If your fan headers are on the side of the motherboard they're probably fine.

> I thought USB Type-C was the name of the USB connector that inserts both ways.

It is. But it's generally used for front-panel type-c ports, which is why people use that incorrect term.

> But I'll admit, USB specifications confuse me.

Please email USB-IF to suggest a stronger mix of bleach for them to drink.

> I found several USB 2.0 header splitter cables, but they also seem to require power for some reason--I thought two USB ports were supported per motherboard header?

I'd suggest something like this, which is probably your best option (and I didn't realize even existed when I posted my earlier comment).

Two USB ports are provided per header, correct. However, if you want to split it into more than two ports, you need a USB hub chip (to multiplex one of the ports into multiple ports) and ideally external power (from a dedicated PSU connector), so you aren't breaking spec on power draw from the motherboard.
