I think this should give you a good overview on our history, written by Swedish historian Herman Lindqvist albeit a bit pricey. Otherwise there is this by famous Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg (it also ends in 1524). The historic departement of a university library might have them, or another book on Swedish history if you're lucky!
