Well, I personally decided on an X35, but if you look at their page on Amazon it says that it "Usually ships within 1 to 3 months." So yea, I've no clue when we'd actually be receiving them.

Description of Problem: I have an Acer Predator X35 bmiphzx running at 144hz through a Display Port 1.4 cable and every time I update drivers, restart my computer, or turn on HDR in Windows HD Color settings I end up getting switched to YbCrCb422 and either 10BPC (if HDR is on) or 8BPC (if HDR is off).

When viewing under the Nvidia Control Panel -> Display -> Change Resolution view I have the following options and here are the issues I run into

"Use default Color Settings" - The system will run in YbCRCb422 only and flip between 8bpc and 10bpc based on the settings in Windows HD Color Settings

When using "Use Nvidia Color Settings"

I can set Highest (32-bit)-> 10BPC -> RGB -> Full -- this setting works GREAT until I reboot at which point it will come up in YbCrCb422 10BPC.

I can set Highest (32-bit)-> 8BPC -> RGB -> Full -- this setting works without HDR and will persist between reboots

I can set YbCrCb422 at which point one of my applications that I need to run becomes a chroma subsampling mess which instantly alerts me to the fact that somethings gone wrong.

I can set Highest (32-bit) -> 10BPC -> YbCrCb444 -> Limited -- this setting causes extreme darkness in SDR applications and games as if the Windows SDR brightness adjustments do not work in it

I can set Highest (32-bit)-> 8BPC -> YbCrCb444 -> Limited -- this setting works without HDR and persists between reboots

The full option in Output Dynamic Range is grayed out in this mode.

Troubleshooting:Running through basically all setting combinations documenting the results and realizing I'm going to need help.

SrGrafo, are you getting a new monitor? Some good advice is that half your budget should go to the monitor. Typically you'll have and use the monitor longer than the PC.

But since you want a dream computer... This gaming monitor seems to be the current top of the line.

The Acer is a VA panel and the alienware is an IPS panel. The Alienware also OC to 120hz which is pretty nice.

I did a decent amount of comparisons, the Alienware seemed like the best panel for the price. The only one that will for sure beat it out is the new Acer Predator X35. That one just came out and has a price tag of $2500 lol. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-X35-bmiphzx-UltraWide-DisplayHDR/dp/B07V8KVK8H
