My wife and I don't use heating pads. We have a dedicated enclosure for our hedgie and use central heat and air coupled with a heater and window unit to keep his temp at around 75°F. That being said, there are passive things you can do to help keep the room warmer. Blackout curtains help keep the room at a more constant temperature. Depending on the size of the room, a heater like this one can help stabilize it too. Heating pads can be useful, but if at all possible, it'll be safer to try and keep the ambient air temperature in the proper range.

Also, depending on what kind of enclosure you're using, you might want to use a ceramic heat emitter with a temperature sensor on it and use a battery operated thermometer to measure temp near hedgie level. We used to have this set up and kept the thermometer on top of Odin's hut so we could get a reading from somewhat higher than where he'd be. Once it's dialed in, the CHE with the temp sensor will keep your hedgie comfy and warm.

This TaoTronics Humidifier. It’s cheap, has a pretty large capacity tank, is really quiet but best of all it covers a large area despite its size and price. I have a plant shop and this one humidifier is able to keep the humidity around 50% in my 700 square feet retail space so I’d definitely recommend it to others. The only bad thing is that it doesn’t come with a hygrometer so I use this one with it at the other end of the room to accurately gauge the amount of humidity the humidifier is outputting.

It's worked well for me as I've yet to have an issue with moist filament, but I print in an upstairs room where the humidity rarely goes over ~35% unless it's raining, in which case it can get as high as 50%.

PLA is less susceptible to issues regarding moisture but that does not make it immune. AFAIK all of the common filaments (PLA, PETG, ABS & Nylon - more or less in that order) can all become moist.

Also, in my experience most PLA doesn't usually have much noticeable odor. What brand of filament are you using?

I just dont know how to calibrate it to my tent size, or if i need to even calibrate it for a proper reading.

If you're really concerned, keep it in a closet closest to the center of the house/apt.

You can get a humidifier/de-humidifier and a humidity/temp gauge to keep it in the optimal range.

I'd get one of the cheap accurite temp and humidity sensors to get a baseline for what your attic ranges in temp and humidity. I wouldn't because of the humidity. but one of these may be a good start to get an idea of what you're dealing with.
