Afterglow Universal Wireless Headset. You can use it with your Xbox, or any other console that you may own (even your phone). I have one and it's amazing. It comes with three different sound qualities (normal, bass boost, simulated 3D sound). The simulated 3D sound is particularly amazing. For the price point that it is, it's more than worth it.

I can only recommend what I've used. You might ask some others for opinions.

I have a previous version of these:

They sound great and have excellent range, nearly my whole house. The charge lasts around 6-8 hours. The only drawback is the huge USB dongle. If I use them with my laptop, I always bring a short USB extension cable (right angle upward) so as not to accidentally apply force to the dongle sticking out the side and snap it off.

I have multiple headsets, but I sometimes use https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B009CL6LA6/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all which works great and has a good mic.

Also, any USB headset with microphone will work if you plug it into the spare USB port on the Vive headset.

They were funded on Indiegogo a while back. They were initially made by Axent Wear, but there's been loads of other companies making them since. Axent probably has the highest quality Cat-earred headphones on the market as a result, but they still aren't great headphones. They're more for aesthetics than anything.

You can find their official distributor here. I definitely wouldn't recommend them though.

As for ones without cat ears, they tend to be headsets rather than straight headphones, so they're usually pretty cheap when it comes to audio quality as well. You can find light up headsets of all kinds at most electronic stores like Best Buy.

Afterglow is probably the best I can think of quality wise. You can find them here on Amazon.

I've got one of these (I bought with the Wii U launched). It worked will just plugged into the game pad with the mic cord. I've used the USB wireless part of it a lot with my TV, I'm thinking it will work just fine with the switch.

I've been looking for a good, comfortable set of headphones for forever, and still haven't found one, please reddit, answer my calls to the gods!

  • Budget - Approximately $60 or less, give or take a little bit
  • Source - Usb and/or aux 3.5mm
  • Requirements for Isolation - I'd like to still be able to hear if someone is calling out for me, but not every little noise outside my headphones
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Large On Ear, I'd prefer them to practically not touch my ears at all, just envelop them.
  • Preferred tonal balance - I really have no idea my tonal preferrence, all I know is I don't care about bass, as long as it's not completely absent, or entirely overpowering, it's fine, and I prefer a smoother, clearer sound I suppose?
  • Past headphones - I have never had a pair of earbuds I liked, they always hurt, no matter what I use, and I've only had a few headphones that I could stand for more than an hour, but the best pair I've ever had is my current one, https://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-Universal-Wireless-Xbox-360-6304300630490063060006306200/dp/B009CL6LA6 these, the only problems I have with these are that they're just a bit too heavy, and the strap is a bit too tight, but the ear size is great, the padding on the ear is good, and the strap is comfortable other than how tight it is. Most other headphones the top part will hurt, the adjustable range isn't far enough, they squeeze my head too much (I have a big head, and big ears) or something else
  • Preferred Music - I'm not getting these for the sake of listening to music, at least not the main reason, and honestly sound quality is lower on my list than comfort, I'll mostly be using these to play games with friends and voice chat with them, but if that's not enough to go on then here's my music playlist on youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF589FAA9A28CFC90
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - as I just said, comfort is my #1 concern, as long as the sound quality isn't crap, I don't care if it's not great, I just want to be able ot wear the headphones for at least 3 hours without much discomfort. I'd rather they didn't get hot and sweaty, but I'd prefer that over clamping or any other painful sensation. They don't have to be a headset since I have a nice mic, but a headset would be nice too, so feel free to suggest either.

I'm pretty sure that's everything, so thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks for the thought out reply. I honestly need new headphones for home anyways. So worst case I buy in ear for the best noise cancellation.

It's actually comical I have been using these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009CL6LA6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_shj.zbAWT0XAD since highschool ~7 years ago. I bought the Sennheiser HD 558 for work but the cord is rediculous in length for portability. (And not removable)

Sending a PM now :)

I know my mother probably didn't have the best knowledge of the gaming headset market when she bought this for Christmas but the PDP AFTERGLOW Universal/AGU.1S WIRELESS HEADSET has served me better than some $70 senhieser headphones I bought a while back. My mother found this headset on sale on Amazon and bought them. I am convinced they are worth the $90 list price but it has some good sound quality but I have not much clue to how the mic compares as I don't use it that much and plus, I don't think the people you talk to on skype really care if your mic is bad as long as they can hear you and if mic quality is a issue for you because of video recording etc. I would recommend getting a good pair of headphones and a clip on mic. This headset is also available wired which I assume would be better quality.

The thing I found good about this mic is that it retracts in and out of one of the earcups instead of folding up and getting snapped off for some reason. In terms of looks the glow was awesome and matched the LEDs in my build when I bought it but now I would probably go with the AFTERGLOW DOLBY 5.1 SURROUND SOUND WIRELESS HEADSETwhich you can set the LEDs to be any color, if I had the money because the current one looks very silly on my head (I don't mind because it's not like anyone can see me :'(.

It is durable, works well, is comfortable, sound quality is excellent IMO and has a great wireless range. Note: when I saw the box I thought it would be Bluetooth wireless or something that I would have to download that I could control from my computer but it was actually a fairly simple headphone jack to a USB which sends the audio wirelessly although this meant that I couldn't do wireless with my iPhone, I used a included wire to try them out for the first time.

They have a couple gimmicks that I thought wouldn't work but actually are awesome! They have 3 settings, one for normal audio, one for more bass, and one for "immersive audio" (enhanced surround sound) which I have found good for both music and games. I prefer my epic speaker setup for hearing the directional sound (if that's what you call it) but sometimes the whole house doesn't want to hear rapid gunfire from upstairs. The range is great, I can listen even when I'm in my basement (my computer is on the 2nd floor).

Today I would probably not look at this headset if I was shopping for a new one unless it was recommended to me by amazon or something but looking back on it I am glad I found it! At first I thought that the manufacturer looked a little sketchy but the PDP customer service were great when I asked for some cables that you can order for free according to the manual (I didn't need them but I thought they could be useful later on) and they arrived within a couple of weeks. Check them out because I didn't think they would be any good and I had never heard of them before but they have served me very well for gaming, music and blocking out the sounds of my siblings.
