I worked 10 years for IBM across several of their co-locations and found that something like this comes in handy.

Too many douchebags with high torque drills mounting hardware in racks with stripped bolts. Ever try to remove one when the rack mounts are nearly stripped clean?

I've never had this fail.

Apple ended up actually replacing my entire computer (2006 white MacBook) with a brand new one (2009 MacBook Pro) through AppleCare because they considered my white MacBook to be a "lemon" (after several warranty-covered repairs had to be made). But just last week I actually removed the fan on my 2009 MBP so I could clean it out and it was pretty simple. Just a few screws and one simple connecter. If you can make toast, you can probably replace this fan.

As for the stripped screw, there are some DIY options or something more substantial like a GraBit (basically, it's like a screw driver tip with a screw built onto the end but with left handed ['reverse'] threads. So as you try to back out your stripped screw, the tip of the GraBit will actually try to imbed itself into the back of your stripped screw). Obviously this might not work as advertised given the absolutely tiny nature of the screws used on that rear housing. Try removing all of the other screws first and see if you can get enough 'wiggle' out of the top cover to loosen that stripped one up a bit, then maybe try the rubberband approach (DIY). Just be careful not to bend the rear cover as there is a little bit of a lip on that inside edge of the Unibody, holding the rear cover in place. Good luck!

I'm a huge fan of these:

(Sorry, on mobile)
They've saved my as 4 or 5 times and the individual sizes are relatively cheap. Bought one at Lowes and I've been able to use it without it breaking or shearing on me. Would highly recommend so far.

Like others have said, something like this little tool kit. I've used this type of tool once, though it was on a larger bolt I snapped off in my dirt bike. Worked like a charm. No doubt you can find ultra small versions, but you'll need to mount your slide in a vice in order to work on it.

I've removed many of those with these. Just stick the extractor end in. Works best if used with an impact driver.

Your local home remodel store should sell a tool that is specially designed to remove stripped screws/bolts.

Something like that.

They must be using some really soft metal in these screws, the same this is happening with the Poker IIs off of mass drop recently. The bit you are looking for is called a screw extractor. Here's one on Amazon.
