Right now it is just sealed in 1 coat of Aleenes Gloss finish spray ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003W0A19U/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_Dl.NDbTAGAVRT ... But we are going to do a very very thin layer of resin/epoxy to finish the projects we do. I did research it a little before I did it and it did say the Aleenes once cured and dried for 24 hours is food safe if you don't want to do a hard resin coat. The only reason we are doing the hard coat is because this is literally my first attempt at anything really so we had purchased removable vinyl so I could practice without wasting as much. When I re do them with permanent vinyl I may or may not seal them with both I haven't decided.
I did a bunch of 3d printing and had no interest in painting parts because I was just thinking it was too much work and was a bit intimidated tbh, but I started with parts that were a single color and it couldn't have been simpler. The hardest part is being patient between applying coats and then waiting for the prints to fully dry; which sometimes takes a day or so depending on the number of coats. If it's just one or two quick coats during a single application, then it will be "dry" within an hour; though rough handling might show smudges or fingerprints if you don't wait long enough. For a protective coating, you could also try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003W0A19U and it goes on the same way as the spray paint. There is a matte version as well.
Anyway, good luck.
