I'm a relatively new non-smoker. I tried Champix last year... worked okay, but didn't help psychologically in any way and I ended up smoking full time again.

Tried something else, and I'm 100% certain it's going to stick this time, I read the quit smoking book. Crazy as it sounds... it fucking worked. How the fuck does a book stop addiction, right? Anyway, highly recommend. It's like $20 bucks and you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot, at least read the prologue before you make up you mind. Plus it instructs you to keep smoking while you read it so that eases the pressure.

The guy has like a 97% success rate, which is a hell of a lot more than any other method can tout.

My fiancé quite smoking two years ago using this book: https://www.amazon.ca/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0973468408 He listened to it every day the week before he quit and then continued to listen to it in the first few weeks. He had initially planned to also use the patch but they came in so late from the pharmacy he ordered them from so he ended up sticking to his quitting date and quit cold turkey with only the book to help change his mindset. Good luck!

If you're interested in quiting my boyfriend and friend both had great success from reading Allen Carr's book. Written by an ex smoker so he understands the stigmas that come up with quiting. My boyfriend has tried cold turkey, gum, e-cigs, but he always went back. He finished the book, smoked his last cigarette and was done, same with my friend. They both say that they have zero desire to start again. You may want to give it a try, $10 bucks is pretty cheap.

For me it wasn’t just about quitting smoking, it was an entire lifestyle change. When I was not active, drinking, and eating un-healthy food it was always really difficult to quit smoking. You really have to want to take care of yourself.

So don’t think of it as just quitting smoking but the first step in a better and healthy take on life.

Edit: this book helped me aswell.

I've heard amazing results about this guy's book if you're feeling like trying to read something (or find the audiobook).

My friends who didn't smoke cigarettes always mixed in clip (tobacco) which I didn't like. So eventually I found out about mullein, then kept searching and found other herbs that were nice. I eventually started making my own mixes and this one is my favorite. It can at least replace what you're putting in your J's. You can also try rolling it up and replacing 1 cig per day with it, then 2, then 3...It doesn't have the nicotine rush, so don't expect to get that same satisfaction, but if you want to try, it's one way. PM me, I'll shoot you a discount.

nicotine stays in your body for 30min, yet smoking tobacco (or otherwise) does smoke damage to your lungs for 48hrs.

I worked at Chapters Book Store (big chain in Canada, I think World's Biggest Bookstore is what it's called in the US?). The book I sold the most of was Allen Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking

I have personally never read it, but I have never had more of these fly off the shelves, and each one with a story of "I read it, quit, gave it to my wife, she quit, she gave it to her mother, who quit, so I'm buying a copy for my nephew", or something to this effect.

I've never had so many repeat purchases or people going out of their way to recommend this book to me, or encouraging me to sell it to other customers. Based on the hundreds of stories I heard, I can confidently recommend this as an excellent step.

It's cheap too, $15 on Amazon :)

EDIT: Additional Info! Find something to curb the physical habit, carrot stick, gum, tooth pick, whatever works to keep your hand busy

I've heard many rave reviews about Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking book. I haven't read it myself as I quit cold-turkey (but smoking was never my serious vice) but it might be worth checking out. From what I've been told you really don't want another cigarette after you're done the book. However you go about it, good luck in your goal though.

My boyfriend and I are soon-to-be engaged, and he was a non-smoker for 8 years. Previous to being in this relationship I considered smoking a deal-breaker, but found myself turning a blind eye to it upon entering this one. The more time we spent together, however, the more I became aware of just how much time he spent smoking. Done your coffee? Smoke. Going for a walk? Smoke. Just had sex? Smoke. It was irritating and unhealthy for not just him, but me too. So...I bought him Allen Carr's 'Easy Way to Stop Smoking'. He read it in 2 days and has been a non-smoker ever since. I highly recommend it :)

Read this. I read it just to see what it was about, and one day a month later I suddenly realized that I hadn't had a smoke in like 3 days. I quit without even trying, without even knowing. No cravings at all, it just wasn't a part of me anymore.
If you want to quit, give it a read, it works.

The PDF is easy to find online. I've quit and it's greatly reduced my stress. I have no cravings, I was able to go for a walk with my smoking friend one day 2 and not have the desire to smoke.

Buy this book

Quit 2 years and a half years ago.. smoked for 15 years and even though I had already made up my mind to quit (again), I'm not sure I would have kept to that decision without having read this book. I've loaned it to numerous people and have seen about an 80% success rate from it. As long as you're serious about quitting, it will work.

As a friend of mine put it - He brainwashes you and you let him do it.
