Not nearly as cool as OP's project, but I've found that the Altoids Smalls tins are a perfect size for a quick blade trash can (or for storage too). Plus, the fact that the Altoid Smalls seem stronger than their larger cousins is just a bonus.
The lighter is smaller than i thought, but still not gonna fit
