As far as strength goes, you can get some pretty strong magnets, which is why I specified the neodymium type.

Your photo above is somewhat confusing I guess. Its not clear where the glass is or how it goes together. I'm assuming that we're looking at the back of the frame and that inner block of wood is what comes out to allow the photo to be inserted? Maybe if we saw the front of it, it would be clearer as to what the problem is

Here's a quick drawing that assumes the glass lays into the frame and we're looking at the back. It shows where the magnets would go.

Here's an example of an acrylic one on Amazon. Of course here the magnets are front to back, but you can see they are strong enough to hold it together easily.
