This is a much better option:

I own one of these and it can provide continuous charge and has no battery, which is a lot safer if you're going to leave it sitting in the sun. It's pretty useful for putting a phone or tablet in a backpack and just letting this sit on top. Granted it's larger, but it folds flat so it's not bad to travel with.

Get one of these, attach it to your Kindle cover ... boom ... unlimited reading time. (Unless you live in a bunker.)

4 watts and a 3aH battery seems like a bad deal to me.

Here is a 8 watt solar panel for $29 or here is a 14 watt solar panel for $60.

Then throw in a 10ah usb battery for $25.

I have a similar usb battery to that and it charges my nexus 5 about 4 times on one charge.

It shuts off the charge in the shade then as soon as I'm back in the sun it starts charging my phone or a power bank right away. I've been under the canopy or at dusk so I know it shuts on / off with no problems.

I've been riding a mix of road / dirt touring with this strapped to my front rack for the last two years, about 2k miles. Rain, freezing, heat, bumps and a spill or two, it has held up so far.

I'm happy with it, YMMV.

Looked up the order and turns out is listed as an 8W. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J3N7FRQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  1. 'Ultrapowersaving mode', activated all the time.

  2. Shut down the phone when its not being used.

  3. get a powerbank, even a compact one (smaller than a cigarette box. As cheap as 20$). Charge it anywhere (even at a cafe), and use it to keep your phone running.

  4. Get a foldable solar charger like this one. Barely bigger than an ipad.
