If yours has worn off, only then you need it. Your phone screen should have come looking super glossy and friction-free, and should have been an absolute joy to use. Most people's stays for 6 months or more (I have a friend who bought his on launch day and his is still intact) but a few come off within weeks. You can use Fusso (Amazon Link) to re-apply it.

Yep, my screen gets dirty much faster now and feels more grippy. Has anyone here ever tried a product like this?

The coating is likely to wear off as a matter of course through normal use, and you can definitely feel a difference when the screen (or certain parts of the screen) feel less 'slick', 'slower', or 'chattery' when swiping.

I have not yet used it (none of my screens have gotten bad enough), but I have this, which seems to be the only product out there that addresses the issue and is relatively well-reviewed.

I'm not sure about third-party replacements, and I wouldn't recommend it.

To be honest with you, I'd take it back to the store and ask for a refund. If you're in Australia and it's under warranty period, you have right to do this. Then perhaps buy a better android phone. The galaxy s5 was not robust in my experience.

Alternatively, take a look at the fusso oleo phobic coating you can buy online and reapply it on the screen yourself and I presume it's higher quality than the one Samsung uses.

You can also buy the slightly more expensive tablet version if you want a bigger bottle for reapplications ;)

I wouldn't use a chemical compound to clean it. Use a damp cloth.

edit: If you're sure that you've rubbed it off you can restore it. There are several kits available. I'd probably go to an Apple Store first.
