Well, you can order another one here and if that isn’t something you want to do, there are FiiO audio players that are technically the modern equivalent.

I've seen these go as low for 180 (I got mine for about that price), but check out Amazon Warehouse Deals. They're ipods returned to amazon within 30 days and are usually in great condition. The one I got was still sealed in the box. If you're set on the touch, they probably have those for sale, too.

The man behind the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch isn’t a genius designer?

The guy is responsible for more iconic designs than anyone else alive. He’s the man behind everything from the iMac G3 to the iPod Nano to the iPhone 4 to the Mac Pro G5 to the iPod Classic to the Apple Watch to countless others. That’s about as impressive a collection as any designer in history.

Where are you getting that price? I paid $250 for a new one a few years ago. Also, current prices for a brand new copy of a discontinued device do not reflect the past pricing. Even with them off the market I was still able to find people selling it closer to my price. Even new ones.

Miko runs up to Madison and throws a punch straight for her chest, but Madison grabs her wrist before her fist could make impact, they stare at each other for a bit as they both struggle to maintain control, when Miko suddenly pulls her arm away, throwing Madison on the ground. Out of Madison, a small device drops to the side. Miko instantly grabbing it and jumps back. Madison looks up and sees Miko with her device and she screams.

Madison: Give that back! I order you!

Miko starts running as she begins to swipe through the playlists that have been set up by Madison. She is looking towards the songs and she sees one.

Miko: I wonder what this one will do...

Miko turns around and when she hits the play button, Madison stops. She turns and looks towards Miko as the song starts and when the chugs begin, she throws her into a mosh like dancing towards Miko. Her eyes widen as she begins to run away, looking at the music device again.,

Miko: There's gotta be something that I can use to help me... Ummm... This looks good!

Miko presses the play button and Madison stops for a moment, waving her arms a bit, and then an all too familiar tune begins to play. Madison begins to throw energy balls at Miko and again, Miko finds herself running away.

Miko: What is this shenanigans?! This chick is crazy! How is she connected to this device like that to be able to utilize so many different magics depending on the song... If only there was a way to turn this thing down or something?

Just as Miko screams that last part, she looks down, and she sees a title of a song that seems to speak to her, you know, when you're in a bind and it's the right thing at the right time sort of deal? She looks back, and takes a deep breath, praying this was it.

Miko: Here goes!

Miko presses the button and Madison stops again, and then the song starts....

Madison: NO! NOT THIS SONG?! WHY?????????

Notice if you have an apple cousin device, an older 7th gen or earlier ipod, then you will hear something playing inside, because these devices were made before SSD's were cheap enough and have hard disk drives.

But you won't hear making noise constantly while listening to music. It's much more energy efficient to only spin up the hard disk and load the next few songs into ram (no moving parts, much less power demanding) and then listen to the data from there. Particular if you have a long playlist and leave the ipod untouched, it can very easily anticipate what songs it will be requested to play, even if you put it on shuffle.

If you jump around your songs collection manually in an unpredictable manner, you'll hear the hard drive more because it's anticipation of what you were going to listen to was wrong and it will keep reloading song data.

This will hold all your cd's and last for years. It also is pretty good with backing up your music, so it has the potential to last much longer than physical cds.

Not trying to be a pain in the ass, some antiquated technology is well worth keeping around. CD's are not one of those technologies.

Well... there's always this. Still expensive as hell though. Might as well buy an ipod.

edit: Just saying. Careful. Links to iPod.

At 5mb per song as his example, this holds 32000 songs at $230. That's $0.007 per song compared to his $0.3 which is 42 times higher.

that is not a real photo.

from the same amazon link: http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B001F7AHOG-2.jpg

take a good look at that, the corners etc. that is not even 'photoshopped'. It's all computer made.
