Not the same idea, but works just as well for cooling. It is such a good design that it actually beats stuff like the EVGA FTW3 cards and comes close to using a 120mm AIO. The Raijintek Morpheus II is similar for cooling but costs more and also takes up more space so I rarely recommend it.

u/Teftell · 5 pointsr/nvidia

Both cards may throttle cause both coolers are meh. You could buy gtx 2080 or make an abomination cooler by removing shroud from blower card and slaping 2 good 120mm fans using zipties and connecting them to GPU using adaptor and fan splitter. Or use something like this https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1549976848&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gpu+heatsink&dpPl=1&dpID=419l%2BFY-hpL&ref=plSrch&dpPl=1&dpID=419l%2BFY-hpL&ref=plSrch

Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV for $62.99, pretty much the best on the market

Edit: Just read it’s an SC2, you’ll have to check for compatibility, but the main cooler should work and the thermal pads you can place where you need them so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

u/SE_Apocalypse · 3 pointsr/Amd

95° is nothing to worry about on a 290x, though throttling indeed starts at that point. PUBG is a piece of shit, so I would not be concerned about AMD performance on that nvidia game either.

But the sound of the fan makes me think your fans are in for a replacement, which is annoying. Card is most likely out of warranty as well. Undervolting, accepting the throttling for a while and waiting for vega sounds still like the best option. Your 290x should not throttle hard enough to make it a real problem.

You could try to ask gigabyte if they can send you an replacment cooler kit for your card or try a cheaper air cooler set for your 290x.

Arctic Accelero IV for example is just $50 and is actually slightly better than most 3rd party 290 coolers. Was the way to go when the 290x still had only reference design cards on the market and is cheap enough. Still, redoing the VRam pads might do the trick too, hard to tell.

This generation the cost to performance difference between the Titan RTX and the 2080ti is just so small. I usually get every generation Titan card, however this generation is just really disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised if something like a 2080ti kingpin edition or one of the other higher binned cards would beat the Titan RTX in some games.

Also the stock Titan coolers are garbage, always have been. To really get the most out of them you will want either an aftermarket air cooler, or a watercooled setup. I've been using these for many generations of Titans on Air https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=gpu+air+cooler&qid=1563843625&s=gateway&sr=8-2

At that price you could get an aftermarket cooler for $40-60 and come out ahead or break even, of the prices these cards will be in a couple weeks when manufacturers come out with theirs.

In my experience, these coolers work really well. Cool and quiet when switching from a blower, but they don't look very nice.

u/bui1t · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

My 1080 blower was running extremely hot, 47c idle 70-83c under load), and I replaced the cooler last night with amazing performance. I'm now getting 31c idle and have not gone over 59C full load and stress testing. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative, check out this cooler for $57.

u/titanruler77 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

there are aftermarket coolers such as (this one)[https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HHMJIIO/] note I'm not sure if that one is compatible with your gpu but that is just an example. They also make waterblocks but you likely don't want to go down that route.

u/baitboy3191 · 2 pointsr/techsupport

The fans are pretty much dying or dead. If you don't have time to RMA it. You can purchase a an Arctic GPU cooler, to my knowledge their latest edition should cover the GTX 970 both reference and non-reference cards.

Its kinda expensive, but if you can wait I would RMA it instead.

u/Carl0021 · 2 pointsr/Amd

Ditch the blower motor for a aftermarket fan. With the reference card I push 60c under heavy load, 40c at idle. I did a swap with this bad boy ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV High-End Graphics Card Cooler with Backside Cooler for Efficient RAM and VRM-Cooling DCACO-V800001-GBA01 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ideKDb4DXY02N.

u/clupean · 2 pointsr/buildapc

If you hate the case, that's an easy decision: the Fractal Design Define S and C for example have acoustic padding inside. Or you could buy acoustic padding separately and install it inside the case of your choice.
Extra1: replace the case fans with the quietest Noctua fans you can find.
Extra2: anti-vibrations kit.

You could also replace the PSU with another that has a 0dB/0rpm mode.
Extra: a PSU anti-vibrations gasket.

Your cpu cooler is really good so you can remove one of the two cpu fans and still OC. It will reduce the noise a tiny bit. If you don't OC, you can remove both cpu fans but there must be sufficient airflow inside the case.

If you've got a hard drive, you can place it inside a silencer (requires a case with a 5.25" bay).

RX 480: replace it with a non-reference model or replace the gpu cooler: the Accelero Xtreme IV generates 23dB (0.4 sone) at 2000rpm according to the manufacturer.

Fan might burn out a little more quickly. But there are aftermarket cooling solutions for most cards. If/when that occurs you could make a change then?

If you manage to solve your card issues, which I hope you do, you might want to consider getting https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Accelero-Xtreme-IV-Compatible/dp/B00HHMJIIO for 45 quid.

u/lechango · 2 pointsr/techsupport

There are some aftermarket coolers but no many, here's a pretty universal one I found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO

You can also liquid cool your GPU, but I don't know if there's any all-in-one liquid coolers for gpus (other than the cards that already come with them like the Fury X). Most people that liquid cool their GPUs are overclocking heavily and have put together their loop from scratch.

u/Renan003 · 2 pointsr/Amd

I had a good experience with an Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo II, but for a RX 5700XT I think the best one would be a Xtreme IV: https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO

u/saurion1 · 2 pointsr/nvidia

It's loud and it will hit thermal limit (83º) quite often under heavy load. I had an Aero 1070 OC, used it for a year and with some undervolting and a more aggressive fan curve i managed to keep it mostly under 70º while gaming. The only problem was that having the case literally next to my head, the noise was kinda annoying so i ended up selling it and getting a Strix.

If you wanted to get an aftermarket cooler, the Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV and Raijintek Morpheus II are the best air cooling options. If you wanted to go water, the Aero uses the FE's PCB so any FE compatible AIO like the EVGA ones will work.

u/SoMass · 1 pointr/buildapc

I ended up buying http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HHMJIIO/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

because I couldn't find the Morpheus on amazon and doing liquid was over my budget. I am looking at

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00637X42A/ref=pd_luc_rh_mrairec_01_01_t_img_lh?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Vram heat sinks but not sure if I will need them, figuring I would need 3 packs to cover everything. What are the chances they will fall off or cause a short circuit in something?

Edit: also can I use any thermal paste for the gpu because I have artic silver 5 left over that I used for my cpu.

u/Austinaveous · 1 pointr/Amd

Stock bios had mine at 1000 mv. I upped mine to 1050. The timings helped a lot. Also my cooling is pretty top notch. I'm using these heat sinks, this thermal paste and this cooler. I removed the thermal pads that come on the heat sinks and I'm using the thermal grizzly for the ram heat sinks and the GPU its self. Not to mention that cooler comes with a huge back plate for additional dissipation.

u/Snow4us · 1 pointr/watercooling

>accelero air cooler

Some ppl were able to get it fit w/ minor mods, but I still can't find this AIO irregardless . An air cooler looks like an easier and cheaper option. I found this one for my GPU. Would liquid cooling be a significant increase compared to an air cooler?

u/mork0rk · 1 pointr/buildapc

I already ordered one that doesn't have it, so what I'm asking is should I order a GPU cooler right now, like this one

u/nan88 · 1 pointr/gamingpc

Yea, the GTX 580 cooler was $36 on ebay. So i was like maybe it'll fit. And I had the 7970 cooler left over from selling my 7970. And thought maybe I'll use them to cfx since they look and perform identical.

Fits perfectly in the 54mm X 54mm holes.

Wanted to save money as the AC4 ~$70 and AC3 ~$65 cost almost double for the same cooler with some additional accessories I don't need.

u/hemorrhagicfever · 1 pointr/buildapc

It's not free but it also avoids a today legal battle that keeps you from gaming. Throw it on to the legal fees? Anyhow don't be Dr Frankenstein. MANY makers sell aftermarket coolers. The different sellers of 1080s are all just glorified gpu fan makers.

Nzxt does a pretty sick hybrid system. Evga has a solutuon.

I found a soltution from artic that should get you back to gaming in 3-4 days or so if it was just a fan dieing. And it's not too expensive. Link said like $65 ish. Amazon link. Arctic is a super solid brand. Up there with Evga for cs and reliability.

You could also look for someone else's dead card that's like yours. Make sure their 1080 is on the same pcb.

There's also fully custom waterblocks out there....

Don't be Frankenstein.

Got cooler from amazon uk.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Accelero-Xtreme-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO

Instalation is quite simple but time consuming. Temps before ~60 idle, slightly over 80 under full load, and fans over 80%. I remember stock fans was pretty quiet until 60% where noise level started to raise quite dramatically. After that was just vacuum.

Anyway temps now: idle ~32 (no fans spinning), fans rarely reach 65% (where is still very very quiet), temps slightly over 70C under full load (tomb raider maxed out) but I use custom curve in afterburner so I'm not sure what would be in auto.

My case: coolermaster haf 912+, intake: 2 front, 2 top, outtake 1 rear, all intakes covered with demciflex filters.

Just need to mention - after cooler installation card get quite big ;)

I also have a 290x but after changing to this cooler, the temps are way better and its not downclocking itself anywhere near as frequently. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=pe_3034960_236394800_TE_dp_1

>Will I run into issues if one of the fans doesn't have all of its blades?

Not really. Somewhat worse temperatures (and maybe noise) but assuming no other part breaks and flies inside the case (though it's doubtfull even then that it might damage anything) you'll be fine.

If you're feeling anal, check ebay for a "for parts" same card as yours, maybe you'll be able to get the cooler cheap that way. Or spend $60 to get an aftermarket one and have it be dead quiet.

u/PrettyDamnSuperFunny · 1 pointr/nvidia

Hey OP, is this the one you bought?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_TA4xzbMZQKFFX

I've been thinking about getting a GPU cooler, but was turned off by the tricky install. For only £45 it seems like a worthy investment.

u/AdeptusMechanic · 1 pointr/buildapc

How long have you had the blower gpu? Is it still returnable cause of all the options I'd pick that first. Otherwise its either change out the cooler on the gpu to something like this
ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV High-End Graphics Card Cooler with Backside Cooler for Efficient RAM and VRM-Cooling DCACO-V800001-GBA01 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HHMJIIO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_V1u6Cb86JBNYM
or the nzxt option but that requires buying a aio and having room for it. What gpu did you have before? Cause 2080tis run hot and a better case might help too.

u/seb_soul · 1 pointr/HardwareSwapUK

Why not just buy an aftermarket cooler (that will actually perform better than the Gaming X) and probably work out cheaper.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-Accelero-Xtreme-IV-Compatible/dp/B00HHMJIIO £45

Edit: How this one works is it uses the large backplate heatsink to passively cool the VRMs and VRAM modules, whilst the fans blowing air onto them directly from the topside (underside when installed in PC), also aid the cooling. So the parts you are looking for (2+3 from your post, which are there to cool your VRMs and VRAM) become obsolete.

If you have clearance issues with the Accelero IVs backplate - I do in my PC due to the position of my PCI-E slot and my Noctua CPU heatsink, you can buy an Accelero III which comes with mini heatsinks you can put onto the VRMs and VRAMs instead of the backplate, again replacing parts 2+3.

u/Krimdelacrew · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I used this for my 1080 fe and it's absolutely amazing. Hopefully that's what you're looking for!

u/m13b · 1 pointr/ZOTAC

If you registered your product, I believe your GPU comes with a 3 year warranty (otherwise it's 2): https://www.zotac.com/us/page/product-warranty-policy
In Europe this warranty is extended to 5 years with registration iirc.

Would definitely give contacting ZOTAC a shot. Sounds like a faulty fan and they should be able to fix it, it's a real easy fix. At the very least they'd hopefully be able to provide you with spare parts.

If worst case scenario they aren't able to fix it. You could look to Aliexpress or eBay for replacement GPU fans. They're inexpensive, although quality may not be as good as the OEM one. Ex. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Repairist-2Pcs-set-GTX1060-1070-GPU-VGA-Card-Cooler-Fan-for-MAXSUN-GTX1070-GTX-1060-graphics/32837174321.html

Plenty of companies also offer full replacement coolers. Arctic has a lineup of GPU coolers you could mod in yourself: https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO?th=1
Much bigger than your mini, but much better cooling, and something you could carry with you into future GPUs (buy a reference/blower model to save some money and use the aftermarket to improve it).

u/Araziah · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm not sure about the limits on your card. It can't hurt to check. I know the card's bios limited mine to 55%. MSI Afterburner let's me bump it up around 62% so it doesn't thermal throttle. Reapplying thermal paste might get you a couple degrees cooler. Or it might give you nothing. Probably not too big a loss if you're not comfortable opening the card up. If you do open it up, blow out any dust. If you want to sink some money into it, you can also get an aftermarket cooler like this one. That should lower your temperatures easily by 10+ degrees.

u/lockstockedd · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I have a 240mm on my 1080ti. That already is overkill as it hits 45 c maxiumum. . A 280mm for your 1060 would be a crazy amount of overkill. You'll be spending this 90+ on this, another 30 on the bracket and whatever else cost is needed.

I feel like if you're already spending that much and doing work on a 1060, you might as well sell your card and buy another card that's either a triple fan or some other card that's an upgrade. Any oc'ing you can do on a 1060 will likely not make up for the cost of the equipment you did to put it on a gpu.

Another option is to get a third party cooler such as this https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Accelero-Efficient-VRM-Cooling-DCACO-V800001-GBA01/dp/B00HHMJIIO . Would fix your problems but is likely still more money than it's worth on a 1060.

The other reply is probably your best bet. repaste it and see how it goes. If that doesn't help, I would just sell it and buy an upgrade or sidegrade.

u/AdamJohansen · 1 pointr/buildapc

You should look up the case's info, and see what the manufacture tells the max GPU length is. Then you should figure out the length of your r9 290

Edit: Max GPU length seems to be 320 mm: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/chassis/47821-corsair-carbide-series-200r/?key=1352385580

u/bubblesort33 · 1 pointr/buildapc

do you have ebay? I believe the cooler on the 390x fits on the new RX 5700. You might be able to sell the stock cooler for a bit unless it's a bad blower style, because some are desperate to replace theirs on the 5700 XT

Overall it's not worth liquid cooling, though. It almost never is. It's a hobby. If you want cooler temps look at the Artic Accelero maybe. Just like the NZXT mod, it does not help much with VRM and memory temps, but maybe those are not a problem on this card? I think your card also has to be a reference design, but that might be for the custom loop too..

u/really3spooky5u · 0 pointsr/bapcsalesuk

stock cooler is really shit, this card has bigger performance than 780 and only two fans? For 50 extra pounds you can buy other one cooling kit Like this one, which would be perfect so there shouldn't be any problems with temperature ;)
