I bought this Arkon suction cup mount back in early April of last year, to use in my US-spec Abarth. Despite being a suction cup mount, it actually works great. I have it mounted on the front of the dashboard (hard plastic area; it looks like the 595 has the same type of material here?). In the nearly 17 months that I've been using the mount, it has fallen off twice. So I would venture to guess that if I were simply to pull it off every six or so months, give the suction cup a quick rinse and reinstall it, it would never fall off. Which is really not bad.

Here's a link to the product on US Amazon store, but I'm not sure if it will help much since you must not be in the US yourself (if you're getting a 595).

Also, here is a link to some pics of the one I bought, installed on the dash in my Abarth. These are pics I took shortly after getting the mount. The phone shown in the pics is an iPhone 6S Plus; the mount will also accommodate smaller or larger phones, though. I showed the mount to two friends after using it for a little while, and they both went on Amazon to order one for themselves (and have been equally happy with theirs, last I heard).

ask and ye shall receive

this one

i really like it. It holds any thing, doesn't obscure my line of sight, and the suction cup works perfectly right next to the bin in the top of the dash. it will pop off if you fasten it at sea level and drive up to 8k'. If you secure it at the summit though... hoo boy! it's rock solid.

I've been using this one for a month now and it has been great.

So i have this. but the glue is kinda weird in my old car since the surface is not totally flat smooth. So unless i am facing the whole phone upwards, it is secure. Also I use it WITH MY hard case SPIGEN cover so i think that makes the phone a little too heavy.

This one has been the best ever, I have 2, one for the cell phone the other for my Dashcam, it sticks to the dash like glue and has never come off.

Arkon Mount http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H89MLLM

This one has been great. Grabs it by the bottom and top and you can slide the arms so it isnt in front of the headphone jack. It also uses a sticky suction cup so it never falls. I did end up taking my dremel to arms and making them shorter though so they dont stick out so dang far.

The suction cup works so damn well, I can use it one handed no problem.

I had this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I58VAZS but it grabbing from the sides became too much of a pain in the ass with the volume rocker and power button.

I've always used this one. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I58VAZS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Great mount, never fallen off of my windshield even when used for 700 miles trips. I travel quite a bit to see family and friends (2-11.5 hours drives) every month roughly and it has held up great. Shamu is the best GPS ive ever owned.

Shoutout to the app waze for saving my ass many a time as well.

I have an Arkon mount and love it. The threaded ring that locks the mount in position broke - I contacted Arkon and asked if I could order some replacements, and they promptly sent me one for free. 10/10 would buy again.

I have this case for my Note 4. The kickstand snaps back in place really well! I bite my nails and find that I am unable to open the kickstand without the use of some additional tool. When it is open, it does provide a strong standing position for the Note 4. The rubber/silicone, whatever it is, can be used to control my touch stereo in the car. Just thought that part was kind of interesting. I use the note 4 as a dashcam and the case doesn't interfere with it's ability to be docked. I've dropped my phone numerous times already and so far it has been unscathed.

The Case I purchased

The car windshield holder.

I got this arkon originally for my nexus 6 because it was one of the few that would hold the behemoth. I liked it enough that I'm still using it with my 6p.

There are a number of advantages I've found.

  1. It clamps a small area so you don't have to worry about it pressing buttons, blocking the camera or the fingerprint sensor.

  2. It's mostly a one handed affair getting the phone in and out, depends how tightly you lock the arm that lets you rotate and tilt the phone.

  3. That tilt/rotate ability. I leave mine just slightly loose so I can preposition the phone's angle and orientation depending on where the sun is, what kind of app I'm using, stuff like that. This is a common feature among car mounts, but this one actually holds the phone in position while still allowing adjustment. No need to tighten or loosen the nut.

  4. The arm is long enough that the phone can be closer to me as well as being angled slightly down. This is great in the summer so I can lower the arm over my vents to keep the phone cool. As we know, when it's hot, you're using navigation and the phone is charging things get hot and phones slow their charge when hot. Being able to actively cool it is a nice bonus. In the winter I can raise the arm up so it's no longer in front of the vents. This is really dependent on where you mount the phone and your car though.

  5. It has one of those super sticky suction cups so it never falls off and it mounts to textured surfaces.

  6. It's pretty unassuming. It's not as bulky as many mounts and is really simple in design.

I've had nothing less than a perfect experience with this one I bought a year ago. Holds the phone tight, and isn't one of those super bulky mounts with all kinds of ratcheting gears and such. Plus, the bottom is completely open for charging/aux.

Honestly, it doesn't even have to be something fancy, it could be as simple as a stretchable bracket that holds the phone in portrait. This is what I use.

u/optimistprime1986 · 0 pointsr/uberdrivers

iPhone user. The fact that the app doesn't rotate bothers me, as I use Uber's nav so that I don't need to jump in and out of the app.

I bought this holder off of Amazon and I love it so far. It's adjustable enough that my phone is very low profile and doesn't block my view. Plus, it's tax deductible as far as I can tell.
