I went last year with my husband and sister, we're all early 30s.
I just took a cheap drawstring backpack like this and it worked great. It could hold quite a lot but I could still squish it into tight spaces if needed.
2 things I was super happy to have was a small stick sunblock, specifically Bare Republic Mineral Sport Stick, and a travel pack of Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes.
The sunblock stick was nice and small, and great for quick reapplications. Mostly it was for faces but worked on arms and legs in a pinch. The face wipes were fantastic to wipe away sweat and grime and it helped a lot to cool down. Face, neck, arms...armpits! Plus now your skin is nice and clean for a fresh sunblock application!
I always travel with a homemade "sickness treatment tube". I buy a travel tube of Advil and empty it save for 2 or 3 tablets, then add in a couple benadryl, zantac, and pepto bismol tabs or others to create a nice little pack for anything that might happen. I keep the original bottles in my suitcase and refill the tubes as needed. I gave a tube to each of us.
I stand by the Band Aid blister bandages. These have saved my heels on many occasions. I see now that they come in different versions for toes and such, too, which is great.
You will probably have some muscle soreness and I was absolutely amazed at how much the Aspercream with Lidocaine helped. I brought the roll on version but I think the patches would work just as well with less mess. The bottle I bought looks like it exploded slightly on the flight home.
Other things I kept in the bag included a ball cap, travel pack of kleenex, a bag with pennies and quarters for the pressed penny machines, hand sanitizer, cell phone, and a portable cell phone charger.
Other than the drawstring bag (which I got for free form work), cell phone, and cell phone charger, I think I bought everything either at Target or Walmart. Really you don't need to bring a lot into the park with you.
I found the pain actually got worse over time. I eventually bought this numbing Aspercreme from Amazon and it made a huge difference. Be sure to wash it out before microneedling though because you don't want to jam random things into your blood stream.
