I would say so.

i have an Asus g73 with and i7 and gtx 460 and it works well for all the games i have used it for.. right now i have it set up as a desktop replacement with a 24 inch HD monitor as my main screen and use the built in screen as a second screen... the biggest issue with this laptop though is that i can not find a bag large enough to fit the beast, it is quite large

amazon has the smaller version, the G53 and it seems like it would be much easier to travel with

I was looking at the Asus Republic of Gamers series for a while before I decided to build a desktop. They'll go for anywhere between $900 to $2000. Very powerful, but at your budget you'd have to settle for one of the smaller ones.

If you're actually willing to spend $1500 on a laptop look for something with the Republic of Gamers tag, here's one at the top end of your price range:

It is absolute overkill for Runescape, but it is pretty awesome.

Less ridiculous, $900, still great.

May be a bit overkill and its the top end of your spending.

The Sager NP8150 is a kick ass machine and is slightly cheaper at $1399
