I'm leaning towards the Asus Zephyrus m myself. This would be my first gaming laptop so just want to get as much info as possible before making a decision. Has anybody looked that the Asus rog strix scar edition? Has the same specs as the zephyrus m but about $300 cheaper. can anybody help me spot the difference between the two or is the dimensions and weight difference enough to justify the price difference.

I bought an open box model from amazon. It was practically new. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listing/B07BSKLV3K/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all

I would recommend this [ASUS ROG Zephyrus] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BSKLV3K/?tag=bkadamos_alltest-20)
Slim, high-quality case, the bottom of the GM501 is made of plastic, the top and the display cover are metal (the lid has a brushed finish).
Screen is IPS with 144Hz refresh rate like you want, G-Sync.

the keyboard is much more comfortable.

Color coverage is very good at 60% for RGB and 93% for sRGB.

Battery life is about 4 hours a maximum runtime.

It has 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x USB 3.1 Gen2 port, 1x USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C Thunderbolt port like you want.
It did not have to deal with real throttling (when the clock rate falls to below the base rate). Even under load, the CPU managed to keep up a minimum clock rate of 2.3 GHz. The GeForce GTX 1070 also runs in boost mode all the time.

it comes with GTX 1070 graphics (fully powered, fully unthrottled), you can check the below link to see how the 1070 GPU perform on the games you are planning to play (scroll down for the FPs and settings expected or ctrl+f then type the name of your game).

In warpgate and small fights, it will be 60-70 fps. In large fights, it's 40-50. Here's some footage of me playing on Ultra 4K the other day (watch out, volume might be a little loud). It's honestly a lot smoother and more responsive than you'd expect. Still, I don't normally play on these settings because there is still a noticeable increase in latency over playing on potato mode. Unfortunately.

I play on an Zephyrus M laptop (link), which has an i7-8750H and GTX 1070.

Hi,

I think the most important feature for you is good thermal performance with strong components. The laptops you listed heavily lack in thermals, streaming will be a mess when throttling. I would also recommend the ASUS Zephyrus M GM501GS, with the i7-8750H 6-core processor and GTX 1070 graphics card. This laptop will be able to live stream while playing games. It has a 15.6" 144Hz display with G-Sync. Like I said before, this laptop is superior to many other options within its range because of the thermal performance.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I’ve read couple of negative reviews on Zephyrus M GM501GS-XS74. Check link below —

Mainly overheating issues. The laptops I mentioned in my post have decent cooling and they also have g-sync. I’m looking for a laptop with good thermal management. I do understand that all gaming laptops get hot due to their built. Thanks!

3ms is listed in the description on Amazon and as for the Aero 15x, I can't find anything official, but Dave2D talked about it in his video from around 2:24 to 2:40

There's a new Asus Zephyrus M that just got announced. 8th gen i7, better battery, and they change the keyboard layout as well.

Ya I saw the same thing and am leaning now mostly towards the M model now and getting the 4 year insurance to cover me.

Thoughts on this one? https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-IPS-Type-i7-8750H-Processor/dp/B07BSKLV3K/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1

It's the Zephyrus M. Imo I'd be more comfortable with its keyboard configuration, and it doesn't seem to be all that much different from the Zephyrus S in terms of specs. Correct me if I'm wrong though :)

ASUS ROG Zephyrus M GM501GS-EI002T. Mine's a bit overkill for this game. Not this one specifically, I couldn't find the model that comes with a 512GB SSD on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Zephyrus-IPS-Type-i7-8750H-Processor-FireCuda/dp/B07BSKLV3K/

EDIT: Found it on Newegg.

Pretty good temps. Undervolted the CPU a bit, and the highest recorded temp I got after several hours of playing FFXIV was 75 degrees Celsius.

Asus Zephyrus M G501?

Edit: There's also Asus GL504 with similar 144Hz but no G-Sync

Check out https://www.reddit.com/r/laptops/wiki/index

the wiki of that subreddit always has up to date recommendations by price range for gaming laptops.

Currently:

MSI GP73

Sager NP8954

ASUS ROG Zephyrus M

seem to be the recommended ones.

I tend to prefer MSI as far as brand quality goes.

For Star Citizen in particular you might want to favour a large SSD.
