ASUS VH236H 23"

Widescreen, 1080p, 2ms (GTG), great picture, multiple display modes. I'm extremely happy with it. The power consumption might be too much for you, though. Newegg lists it at "<55W".

Since you're going for about a 20 in. I recommend a computer monitor that has an HDMI input. Since we're talking about computer monitors you'll need to get external speakers as well. The built-in speakers usually suck.

Know that all HDTVs have inherent input delay, even if it's just milliseconds. And there is never information on the box of how much input delay the display has. So I recommend to keep your CRT, especially for multi-player FPS and fighting games, because the CRT has zero input delay and the best refresh rate.

This 23 in. Asus monitor is used in many competitive gaming scenes. It has a low input delay of 8.3ms and the picture quality looks great. Amazon has a $20 rebate making the price after the rebate ~$136. Remember you'll need external speakers if you go with a computer monitor.

Doesn't seem to be out of stock now, on Amazon, and on Newegg. Looks like newegg will be a few bucks cheaper if you use the rebate. If you want it from amazon, order it soon!

I've been using this for a about a year and I've been very happy with it. Connect it to the old Xbox via HDMI and you'll be living the high life.

I've heard this monitor is also used regularly in gaming competitions, if that means anything to you.

I was looking at the Hewlett Packard 2211X. It's only $150, but that Asus has so many reviews and still 5 stars it's got be good.

Edit: I see amazon has the Asus for $150 after rebate plus no tax or shipping.

As far as suggestions...I personally use a Westinghouse 40" TV as my monitor (via HDMI), but ASUS has some nice computer monitors for relatively cheap.

I suggest this one. It is an amazing screen, good size, and is affordable.

pick any monitor you want. I have THIS monitor and I personally play a lot of DotA 2.

u/Otto_the_Autopilot · 1 pointr/buildapc

I like the Asus VH236H. I have 1 and just picked up 2 more for $139 after rebate, but amazon seems to have run out again after I bought them. Keep and eye out.

There is pretty much no difference in LED and LCD.

I love this one http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VH236H-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B002453K5G/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1319576343&sr=1-1

Any 60Hhz monitor will be good for gaming it really makes no difference.

The difference in size isn't really a problem.

Basically get a monitor from a good make and size, that's all you have to worry about.
