23" ASUS monitor for 119$... can't beat that crap with a stick!

Apparently there was a ton of lag in the shitty insignia lcd monitor I had. Its a whole new world now.

u/sintheticgaming · 2 pointsr/battlestations

The monitors you see here are ASUS VS238H-P 23" times 3. You have to buy separate monitors and also make sure the computer's graphics card can support either Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity depending on what GPU you have. If you want its totally optional but you can buy a triple monitor stand like I did I used the EZM Deluxe Triple Monitor Mount Stand and it makes the setup look A LOT cleaner.

Would this monitor be good for PS4? Haven't played since Black Ops 3 champs and having to rebuy a PS4 and all the accessories.

u/MohKohn · 2 pointsr/linuxquestions

When I did the apt-get dist-upgrade nothing relevant seemed to happen, but it may be like a week before this happens again.

Do you mean graphics card drivers? I can't seem to find any specifically for the monitors. I have Asus VH238H and Asus VS238H

It's $100 after rebate and I've got two of these. Fantastic monitor, just has no speakers on it

u/Johndrud · 2 pointsr/MLPLounge

This is the Full Mountie, minus a subwoofer mounted above (the wire in the back going to the left).

This one is a close-up of my peripherals, along with my big-ass mousepad. Sorry about the poor lighting quality, all of the lights kinda screwed with my camera.

The specs of my rig: 2 1080p monitors and a 1080p TV, a GTX 660 Ti, an FX-8350, 2x2TB HDDs, 1x500GB HDD, 1x128GB SSD, and 2x4GB DDR3 RAM.

u/Cookieblues · 2 pointsr/buildapc

This one should do the job and starts from $144. It's possible to get it in 22" as well as 19" if you want it cheaper.
Except for that, maybe this or this.

u/animeman59 · 2 pointsr/gamingpc

Might want to redo those links. They only go to the list of 24 inch Asus monitors. Can't compare what two monitors you're referring to.

Anyway, the two monitors you seem to be looking at are [this one] (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236059&Tpk=N82E16824236059) and [this one] (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236175&Tpk=N82E16824236175).

If go to Amazon.com, then you'll see a list of the different specs for the Asus monitors. Go [here] (http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS238H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B005BZNEVQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348568030&sr=8-1&keywords=VS238H-P) and scroll down the product description until you see a small spreadsheet detailing the different models.

Anway, the VH236H has built-in speakers, while the VS238H-P is an IPS monitor. The contrast ratios don't matter. Personally, I would go with the IPS monitor.

Here's a good 23" for $150. Youtube reviews should help too.

Reposted my comment I gave someone else

u/Jakexx360 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I actually am building almost exactly the same computer. A couple of suggested changes:

  • I'd change to the MSI graphics card. It has better cooling and is a bit cheaper, as well.
  • I couldn't recommend a monitor more highly than this one for the price. It'll cut about $120 from your budget which could be put to better use, such as a set of 16GB RAM.
  • I'm not liking that keyboard for the price, personally. With this one on the market for half the price (as well as being backlit and mechanical), I wouldn't want to spend that $130 myself.

Other than that, I like the looks of it. My build is here, and you can kind of see the differences between our builds. I paid premium on the keyboard myself, but it was for a few other reasons.
u/MahCupOfTea · 2 pointsr/buildapc

it's really up to you, personally I much prefer a single 4k display because trying to play anything other than FPS or racing games with 3 monitors in surround (5760x1080) is either ugly or not supported by the game (for example Shadows of Mordor looks really weird and imo useless in my surround set up). plus the monitor you just listed is 144hz, and although I'm not sure, I do not think 2 980s will be able to get up to 144fps in 5760x1080. again imo (and what I use to game) I would get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236399 and then 2 1080p 60hz monitors to use in a three monitor set up, I have 2 of these http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS238H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-LED-Lit/dp/B005BZNEVQ, these are also good for Xbone because any game on console will not run higher than 1080p 60fps (the average for Xbone being 900p 30fps).

u/Mont0p · 2 pointsr/Ice_Poseidon

Ice said in this thread that he uses a USB to VGA adapter. His other screen is a TV which I can assume is what is using the HDMI on the 970. This leads me to believe that he plays games on the monitor that goes through the USB to VGA adapter, which is why he is having so many performance issues.

Solution 1 (cheapest): Buy a DVI cable and this adapter.

Solution 2 (expensive): Buy a new monitor. Decently priced monitor recommendation

u/UnagiandRoe · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Meh. The monitor is probably fine, but I wouldn't go with Dell. Personally, I would spend an extra thirty bucks and go with the ASUS VS238 23" Widescreen LED Backlight with LCD Panel. $120.00 with rebate. You won't be disappointed.

u/Mafiya_chlenom_K · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

That's something I forgot to mention -- ASUS is out (their customer service is crap.. filed a BBB report on them about a year ago), so I won't be recommending that monitor. But I am curious as to why you went with the 21" over the 23".

My fault for not mentioning the issue with ASUS.

Thanks ✓

u/tantalustroupe1 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Thank you, I will definitely bookmark that.

Do you think this monitor will be worth spending a bit more?

u/Katzoconnor · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Beyond the apparently common yellow tint issues, even better—and even cheaper to boot! Wish I'd seen it when I picked up this one at a respectable $110 back in the summer. I'm still satisfied with it, but I'll earmark the U2412 and begin the hunt there next time.

u/shiny515 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Me too! I literally just ordered a 23" ASUS monitor today (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BZNEVQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) - I'm currently on a stock Dell monitor from my parent's old PC build from 15 years ago - and have decided to commit a bit more money and time to PC gaming. Next up is saving for that sweet, sweet GTX 1080...

u/Unit789 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Does response time really mean anything in terms of ghosting and stuff like that? I know its measured in milliseconds but still does it matter?

Edit: just to avoid another little reply thing how does this one look? I think its an IPS pannel.

I just bought this for the reason you ask above.

It works great. It has an audio plug so you can put some cheap laptop speakers on it, or use your xbox one stereo headset of choice. I do both.

Just a tad over budget but you can easily bring it down to $1400 if you feel like it by going with an i5 for $200. And I have the optical drive needed to install windows, etc. With this GPU you should be more than good for now and the near future. glhf!

u/thetoxicfear · 1 pointr/buildapc

I left off a case to let you choose, since it's more of a personal preference thing. Any ATX case will work. I also left off a GPU, since you are just doing music production and the i5 has integrated graphics.

As for the monitor, I really like the Asus 23" 1080p panels, although this monitor is more aimed at gaming.

I need a computer monitor, I have 3 on my wish list this one is the least expensive, and this one is a little more expensive. I won't even put the 3rd option at all because it is like $400. I need a computer monitor because my current one is pretty much a dead monitor walking (sorry tried for a stupid pun) and will turn on and only stay on for a second or two and then proceed to shut itself of. Sure, that would allow me to be able to go outside more and enjoy time with friends and nature. But I am a computer science student who needs his computer so that he can do schoolwork over the summer and be able to do his work for the internship he has. Alas, I do know that it is expensive, but you asked what I needed. Thank you for the contest, and I hope you find an amazing comic book! :)

u/Dempowerz · 1 pointr/buildapc

Did some quick looking and came up with a potential monitor for you, it's from the US Newegg site so I'm not sure through what method you'd obtain it but the site has the model number and you can try to find it on your particular choice of electronic shopping site.

Asus 23 inch low grey to grey response

Dell 23 inch IPS monitor with amazing input response time

u/potato11teen · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

A fantastic monitor.

If you're thinking it's a little pricey, keep in mind that monitors take years to go obsolete. It isn't like a GPU that gets outdated in no time at all.

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT SKIMP ON A PSU!! Buying a cheap PSU will kill $700 faster than saving $50. I personally only trust Seasonic but I don't doubt that there are other brands out there just as reliable. Whomever you buy from, make sure it is 80 PLUS certified. Look up the different levels of PSUs (bronze, silver, gold, platinum) to determine your best fit.

As for processors, there are two companies: Intel and AMD (I'm sure you may be aware of them but I want to make sure). Intel makes their processors to run cooler than AMD but intel will also charge for it as Intel's processors are far more expensive than an AMD counterpart. Keep in mind that motherboards have different chipsets for each processor. Basically, there is an ASUS 9001 (Intel chipset) Motherboard and a counterpart ASUS 9001 (AMD chipset) Motherboard.

Newegg has made a very well rounded three-part series of how to build a PC and I suggest looking into it whether you plan on building it or allowing a redditor to build it. Learning how to put together a PC and how it all works together is more useful than you may think.

Part 1 I'm only going to post this one because this one teaches you everything you need to know. The others videos after it are things after you choose your parts like Assembly and Software.

This one is well reviewed and right over $100.

So now that i've upgraded my pc i've been wanting to get a 2nd monitor that's higher res(current is VGA), is this one fairly good?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005BZNEVQ/ref=psdc_1292115011_t2_B0043T7FHK?th=
Picked it since it's 1080p, 2ms response, and fits the space on my desk(direct replacement for my current monitor)

Planning on using this monitor for mainly gaming with some web browsing and stuff when not gaming, planning on it becoming a 3 display setup with this new monitor(TV on HDMI, VGA monitor is on a displayport to VGA adapter, and planning to use the new monitor on DVI). Gonna get a Vesa stand for my current monitor so sits lower(will block my tv when im in bed if not) and put it on the right side of my desk with the current listed monitor replacing the spot of the VGA monitor then just going to use the VGA monitor for web browsing and monitoring stuff in game and whatnot (better than using the TV for that stuff).

u/jmjf7 · 1 pointr/buildapc

What do you think about two of these?

I just got two of these ASUS monitors just got delivered today and I love them already. They are 23" and only $120.

u/rayhem · 1 pointr/buildapc

Full modular means that there are no cables attached to the unit which helps with cable management...Semi has some key cables attached which some people dislike but I don't mind it. The power supply I linked for you is full which I find more desirable.

Currently I have an Asus VS238H-P Which is currently $120 AR which is an incredible deal. The colors are really crisp and the only fault I have with it is the stand is a bit wobbly but you shouldn't have a problem if you just prop it up against something or your desk doesn't shake too much

u/CrazedGamer00 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I hope to get the components soon, sorry to extend your time here but do you know of any monitors that support 1920x1080 that are good for gaming and are not too expensive? These are the ones I'm looking at are they good?

u/Werewolf1810 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I was looking at this one, but I don't understand the difference (if any) between a 23" and a 23.6". Do you know if there are?

http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS238H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B005BZNEVQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1361219139&sr=8-3&keywords=asus+23+inch+monitor

It says it on Amazon's page.. Where it says Product Alert?.

u/DeoxyriBROse · 1 pointr/buildapc

(Tried to make a post about this but doesn't seem to go through, probably because it belongs here)

So I'm trying to narrow down choices for monitors under $150, been looking around and also thanks to Techsource's video I've got the four I think I want to choose from, and just wanted to see if anyone else has any feedback. All links are amazon as I have a giftcard Im able to put towards it, unless some crazy sale goes on soon.

  1. > Acer H236HL bid 23-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor
    • Pros: WIDESCREEEEEN
    • Cons: $10 over buget, and easily the most expensive choice. No VESA mount support as well (choosing this monitor would pretty much depend on how the widescreen would actually look vs having dual screens; if I can I'd try to find this one IRL to get a feel for it)

  2. Acer G236HL Bbd 23-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor
    • Pros: cheapest option
    • Cons: no VESA mount support

  3. ASUS VS238H-P 23" Full HD 1920x1080 2ms HDMI DVI-D VGA Back-lit LED Monitor
    • Pros: VESA mount support and has a mail in rebate

  4. AOC i2367Fh 23-Inch IPS Frameless LED-Lit Monitor
    • Pros: VESA mount support, and super narrow bezels

Im not looking for anything larger than 24, and for the build I plan on I won't be going above 1080p resolution. The 3 non-widescreen monitors I know are super popular, but I included the widescreen because although I plan on gaming I am still in school and in a little over a year will be starting medical school so I would love a widescreen for productivity (though Im not sure if it would be worth a single widescreen vs Dual monitors, since this widescreen is only 23 Im not sure if it would be any different than the other choices).

Im not sure what to think about the VESA mounting options, as Im not sure if I would end up mounting a monitor so for now lack of VESA isn't necessarily a con.

      Any feedback/advice is appreciated! Thanks!!!!
