Lol... formatting is hard today for some reason. Going to try one more time. Picked this up at Christmas. Very happy with it.
which is better?
OP's or this
Yeah, the sole purpose of my hypothetical 4:3 monitor would be this minimap configuration thingy. I really wouldn't want to browse on it for exactly all of the reasons you've stated. The monitor I had in mind is this one here, using my current 21' as a secondary. However, my only concern with that is, if I were to use OnTopReplica to replicate the minimap of Dotes etc., how would it look stretch out to 16:9? Since the Dotes minimap is a perfect square, wouldn't it look a bit silly on a rectangular screen? Would I be able to use both the minimap and a chrome window at the same time? See, like I said, my main reasoning to have a secondary monitor comes from the desire to read Twitch chat while I'm gaming, without having to alt-tab constantly. I'm a bit particular when it comes to aesthetics and little things tend to bother me more than they should (that's actually the only reason I'm not buying a 29' ultrawide like I had originally intended), so I'd want it to actually look as nice as it performed.
Apologies for all of the questions, but thanks for the answers!
I don't get the BenQ hype. The only reason MLG uses them is because they pay them more than anyone else. They aren't the best out there by far. The ASUS I got a couple months ago shits all over that thing and it's under $300. When I bought it was even cheaper than what it costs now.

Small changes :3 to ram and SSD and GfX card (either get this lower end EVGA 970 or get the MSI 4G)
changed monitor to a cheaper IPS 60hz panel as you would benefit more from the increase visuals than lower response time. (Maybe you could get 2x if you want a large display for SIMS?)
this is another option

It's a solid IPS monitor.
According to camelcamelcamel, it is tied with last month for the lowest it has ever been on Amazon, even before the rebate.

Here's a 1ms Asus that's $145 plus a $20 rebate:

The frame isn't quite as nice as the one you posted, but I thought I'd mention it in case you wanted to fit 2 of them into your budget.

I have to use YCBR444 or else my monitors look like they have a white layer of film over it.

Near exact same specs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009HNEBLK/?tag=pcpapi-20
Alternatively, you can give up 3 inches and have a 144hz panel: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I
Honestly, if you're only gaming on a single monitor you can build a rig that'll kill anything (except 4k) for like $5k, probably less than that. Like I said, performance really stems from what display setup that you're going to use, so if it's a 1440p/1600p screen you can really max anything out with a single GPU (at about $600) from there the rest really isn't that expensive comparatively.
It's a game of finding out what you need, then pricing accordingly...I don't really care that you can spend 10k on a computer, it wouldn't be right if I suggested you buy twice as much computer as you need. Also remember that if you have a budget that big you can buy a cheaper (yet still high performance machine) now, and in two years upgrade accordingly.
>One for the game and another just to search the internet on.
This is a common setup, I use the same thing, game on one and movie or monitoring on the other. I would buy your monitor separately from the system if you buy from retail, only because I think you can find better monitors from Amazon for less.
>So will you just list what stuff I will need (the best hardware) ?
Ok, well start with monitors.
I would use two of these for you computer. If you want something for your xbox, you can't hook into this with an xbox, so buy one of those and one of these. Or if you wanted to get the two Qnix's for the computer and the Asus for the Xbox...and you can hook the Asus up to your PC as well.
This is a list of that hardware that you should spec out to:
If you go the Origin route (my recommendation) then you should land in the $6-7k range if you choose the ORIGIN Recommended pieces. If you pick the recommended ones and follow the specs I listed you'll get an amazing gaming rig (shit I wish I could afford something like that, I'm on a measly three year old $800 build). Also, if you follow the Origin route you can do some neat custom paint, lighting, etc... which makes it look neat. I really think your best route is Origin unless you want to compare with the other companies...all of them make good machines, but usually Origin makes some of the best rigs. You can also get warranties and upgrade plans which is nice.
ASUS VS278Q-P Ultrafast 1ms 27-Inch LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009HNEBLK/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_3GCXub16NK187
I got this for pc its a great monitor take a look see if you like it :) good luck hunting
Hey! Your summary of panel differences is fairly accurate, here are two suggestions.

IPS panels are great for gaming and movies, but suffer from poor black-levels, and IPS glow/backlight bleed can annoy some people.
I tried to find two that were closer to the lower end of your budget.
ASUS VS278Q-P Ultrafast 1ms 27-Inch LED-Lit Monitor
Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers
And an Xbox One...
is there a (noticeable) difference between 1ms response time and 5ms?
what is the difference between LED-lit and LED?
http://www.amazon.com/VS278Q-P-Ultrafast-27-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B009HNEBLK
vs:
http://www.amazon.com/PB278Q-27-Inch-LED-lit-Professional-Graphics/dp/B009C3M7H0
based on the price, it would seem that the 5ms monitor is better?
Is there any program I can use to get around this? I was able to use LightBoost to actually run 120 hz at 1920x1080 but the only issue now is I have a message at the bottom of my screen that keeps saying "Input incorrect" and the screen flickers to black every 5 seconds for 3 seconds at a time so I'm forced to switch back to 60 hz. I'm so frustrated right now and feel like I might as well return this monitor and get this since it's about the same price and bigger. I'm so disappointed..
Monitors are so confusing. What's most important for gaming? I have it narrowed down to a few different monitors but there are differences (IPS/TN, 60/144hz, 5ms/1ms, screen size/resolution) that are really bogging me down.
Fwiw, the monitors that I've tracked down are these... can you advise me on any of them? Open to dual monitors or single, more high end monitor. This is going on my rig that is used almost exclusively for gaming and movies.
ASUS MX279H 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor: big, sexy monitor with average stats
ASUS VG248QE 24-inch LED-lit Monitor 144Hz refresh rate 1ms pixel response time & 3D capable: smaller monitor with fast refresh rate and response time, smaller size means 1080p will look better, not IPS
ASUS VS278Q-P Ultrafast 1ms 27-Inch LED-Lit Monitor: fast response time IPS monitor, not good for dual monitors and average resolution and refresh rate
AOC i2367Fh 23-Inch IPS Frameless LED Monitor: decent 23" IPS monitor with narrow bezels that I would probably get two of
What are your thoughts on:
ASUS VS278Q-P and ASUS MX279H?
These are the other two I've been looking at, and they seem to be on a good sale, and to have good reviews
I use these:

They are great for playing games and every day computer things.
Original item if you are interested.
Something like this? Jack linked me the VERY similar monitor here with a 2ms delay and his has speakers if i wanted to use it as a TV :O
This is the one I recently bought.. 27'' Asus monitor with 1ms response time and on sale for $262 (if you have prime I think). I'd highly reccomend it.

That's the monitor I use for my 780 ti. It'll put you over budget by around $50 or so but everything looks amazing on it.
I have been looking to get a monitor for my Xbox one and move away from my 40" TV.
Ive dont a bit of research and have 3 on the shortlist.
ASUS Designo MX279H
BenQ ZOWIE 27"
ASUS VS278Q-P
Would love any input on which would be best.
I have this monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009HNEBLK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ym7bAbZE9RE72
something along the lines of this? https://www.amazon.com/Asus-VS239H-P-23-Inch-1920x1080-Back-lit/dp/B009HNEBLK?th=1
Sorry if I don't know basic stuff, i've been using laptops almost exclusively the past decade or so.
Any monitor recommendations in the $200 price range? I'm currently using a cheap 1080 tv and I wanna try out one of these 1ms delay monitors.
I was looking at these two which are in stock at my local store.
