I took clones but then I doubted myself and thought what if I mis-marked them as I've done before.

Then the younguns started getting those dark green leaves and I was a little relieved.

scope is this one. It went up a bunch since I got it so there are most likely way better deals on ebay

Hey man, this caught my attention

http://www.amazon.com/Aven-26700-300-Microscope-Mega-Pixel-Magnification/dp/B004M8SQ6Q/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1368026447&sr=8-11&keywords=bench+magnifier

Go or no go?

And by the way, I managed to turn the display in the tablet on (for a few seconds) after the reflow, it displayed a green tinted screen and horizontal lines with battery charging icon when I plugged in the charger. Also I heard something crying in the board, but couldn't locate it. Any thoughts?

The best rated one I could find on amazon cost about the same amount, the ≈$75 price range. It sounds from these other answers that decent microscopes cost a small fortune, so for the average user digital technology may be the way to go.

Not too hard to focus but as you can see from the pic, depth of field is limited....that was taken while still on the plant.
