Just buy this lamp and not the housing. Install it wearing rubber gloves so you don’t leave any oils on the bulb and it will be fine.

I was very tempted to do a 4k upgrade as well.. but it seems like you really need to get almost to $2k range to get good picture and faux 4k.. there are cheaper ones in teh lower $1000's, but I don't know they just didn't seem to be even as good as the w1070 in some ways aside from the 4k aspect.
Personally I would say if you really don't care that much about the 4k yet.. do a cheap sub-$100 lamp with a basic warranty.
