yeah...it has a conductive, spongy material at the tip example

You just need a capacitive stylus. Any cheap one will do like so:

Yeah, normal pen styluses won't work on iPhone/iPad either. You need something that's both conductive and has a large enough contact area to be detected (round-tipped). Like this one.

I use my phone and I picked up a stylus earlier this week. I think it's worth it because it helps me see what I'm drawing, and I can be more precise. Bought these.

While you're right about the fact that it's a capacitive touchscreen and an older style plastic stylus won't work, there are plenty of stylus made today out of material that conducts electricity so as to be compatible, they are quite common.

My daughter really wants a new stylus for her Kindle.

It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

I waited around to see if anyone was going to try. Guess not so I did.

I bought these based on the reviews. I literally can't even get the nexus to pick up that I'm using it. Is there a trick to using a stylus?

They look just like all the other cheapy bubbly ended styli.

edit: I figured it out. They only work if I'm touching the very bottom ring, apparently conduction isn't happening from the pen body down. I pulled off the nub and the ring, twisted out all the extra rubber, and put it back together. It works. It's goddamn thin and hard to hold. Not recommended.

What is the stylus like for the Note? I know that there capacitive stylii (sp?) like this that can be used even on phones that aren't intended to have a stylus.

Does the Note stylus work differently, or do the buttons and the screen not detect contact in the same way?

I've got a stylus. And it works. And it looks just like any other stylus.
