Did you even look for Battlefield 2? Its on Steam / Origin / Amazon among others.

But anyways, the Project Reality mod for BF2 is really great and still popular.

ARMA 2 / 3 are really fun and popular as well.

Other than that there aren't many other military games worth playing in my opinion.

Personally I would rank them (From best to worst):

  1. ARMA 3
  2. Project Reality
  3. ARMA 2
  4. BF2 Vanilla

If you don't mind a non-Steam version, it's $5 on Amazon

BF2Hub.com for the client.

If you don't have the game, you're gonna have to get it somehow. Amazon seems to be a good source for it. Third party vendors of course. I got it when Revive was a thing and they handed it out for free.

I would prefer a legit version, and give EA/DICE my money, but they literally won't let me :)

Absolutely....

Steam or Amazon.

You can buy Battlefield 2 Complete Collection on Steam or on Amazon which has everything that relates to BF2.

You could also probably buy it in a store for $5 or so as well. You might be able to find someone with a key on eBay or a forum that wants to sell. Since it's an online key check you can use the same key on multiple computers but only one can be "logged in" at a time, so find someone in another timezone, chances are 99% of people no longer play this game anyway.

So if you're still looking into it, here is BF2 on sale on Amazon for digital download for $5, that's a great price for this game, especially since it includes all the DLC. Here you go.

Amazon is selling it for $20. It should work if you buy it from there. I have not tried it, though.

Premium members get priority treatment (and dlc) when getting into a game. Basically if the game is full they get to cut the line you're waiting on to get in before you.

A lot of people prefer BF2: Complete which you can get cheaply on Amazon since it's no longer to purchase on steam.

> I remember at one point they were trying to bump the price up to 70 and thought 80 would be a good place

Because honestly...the fact games cost $50-60 ten year and more ago...they should around $70-80 based on inflation. Bigmacs at Mcdonalds are way more expensive than they were 20 years ago..and they are made with exactly the same ingredients. I remember when a 20 piece mcnugget was $2.00, now they are $5.00. The chicken is not better quality, you don't get 40 nuggers..you still get 20. for $3.00 more.

We get WAY WAY WAY more for our money than we did even 10 years ago in regards to video game softwares. We get more for our money with computer hardware and internet connections.

>We've been seeing this time and time again where companies cut up a game so they can put up pay walls. I remember specifically transformers rise of cybertron where people Dat mined and found ready to go transformers locked up waiting for their "dlc" dates. I think similar things were found with destiny as well.

right, whereas when Sonic shipped for SEGA...there was 0% chances of getting anything added to it. Whereas now...we have a method to get shit fixed and updated at literally NO EXTRA COST! because the games themselves have NOT gotten more expensive, even though they should have because cost of living goes up when inflation goes up.

We are not being exploited and if anything. All the old fart gamers that went through this shit 10 years ago had to because this is the remedy to those problems gamers had before you/we got into gaming. Can you imagine the backlash if the disc you bought was not manufactured correctly because there is always mess up's with anything, or it was damaged during shipping process and you literally had to mail it back to EA and await a new disc to be mailed to you? When that shit happened before the 2000's...you had wait 6 fucking weeks for the replacement...6 fucking weeks before you can even plop the shit into the console/computer, much less install it and play it.

>Boxed games like battlefield need longevity from the start to keep a healthy player base that doesn't fade after 30-40 days.

Battlefield 2 would kindly disagree. This game right here...was actually battlefield 2 and 4 fucking expansions all priced separately and sold seperatly. What is now $20 on amazon was over $180 in actual software when it was released over 10 years ago. Trauma Studios was bought by DICE and Trauma Studios got their start making a mod of Battlefield 1942..much the same way Counterstrike started as a mod of Halflife..and was so popular that is became it's own standalone title.

>how to get more money out of us per game

Because with todays gamers and the internet connections we have...it literally cost them more $$ to make and support these games. When super Mario shipped, Nintendo stopped paying people to fix the bugs found in Mario world..they were now getting paid to create new content to make the company money. Now EA has to pay people to keep working on software years after it ships, not even just fixes. But quality of life changes, and content updates. Why, in your opinion, is the gaming industry exempt from passing the cost of doing business onto the consumer?

Hell, I've logged over 350 hours on Battlefield 4....how can you sit here and say that paying $100 for a game and DLC's that have given me over 350 hours of entertainment is exploitative? Beating off to internet porn is a more expensive hobby.
