what you linked would probably work, but those look like the 2nd speaker wants to be wired to the first, which would lead to some cable management hardships. This is another option

Pick up a chromecast Audio if you're going to have a wifi network in there. It won't have any of the range problems Bluetooth does.

Consider picking up a pair of Behringer Eurolive B210D used. These Behringer PA speakers don't produce a deep bass response though. If you want some more articulate bass look for something used in the Mackie Thump line of products.

Check your local classifieds for this stuff.

Sorry, I got that link wrong, we actually use the 10 in version. The pictures make them look waaaaay bigger than they actually are. So small the almost look silly on stage, but the sound is there. I'll take looking silly for easier load-ins.

If you are doing live events in an outdoor space you want a pair of these. If you are putting this INSIDE in a dorm sized room you want a pair of these..

Loud as Fuck doesn't really cut any fucking mustard if it sounds like shit AND are loud as fuck.

For a small venue she could probably just use a BEHRINGER EUROLIVE B210D $199 on Amazon Prime https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C4QWXQ

I would put it up on a stand ($22) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E0PPG0

My band uses one of these as our main PA for our digital piano and vox (via a Yamaha MG10 mixer) when we practice.

Depending on the size of party and how loud you want it, the HK may be enough however you mention big so likely not.

>but that I can still take with me wherever I go (Is the Sony going to be too much of a hassle?)

Not sure 100% what you mean by that however you're not going to be throwing either in your bag wherever you go. I wouldn't say either are exactly 'portable'.

Do you need it to be portable? My recommendation is, for cheaper, you could get an active PA speaker, like the Behringer B210D for house parties which should be ideal however it isn't portable. For something to 'take with you wherever you go', get a smaller portable speaker, like the Anker Premium which is said to be very similar to the Bose Soundlink Mini. I have a JBL Charge 2+ which is fantastic and goes everywhere with me however the JBL's are considerably more expensive.

For the money of the Sony, I'd really recommend getting two different speakers as you have two very different requirements. Something that you can 'take wherever you go' will not be able to power a big house party and vica versa.

I'd get two of these, specifically. The B212D's if you can afford them, they'll be significantly louder & more bass (but still won't be very strong, you'll need a sub for that).

As for cables, if you might want to hook up a mic or multiple things or need an easy volume control (each speaker will have its own, but you may be able to use your laptop's), get a tiny cheap Behringer mixer. If it's just one device, you can use a cable like this (since those speakers have 1/4" inputs, cheaper than XLR), and extensions like this if needed

Strongly consider speaker stands if needed, they should be about ear level.

Ok, I think I am going to go with those, now I just have to get my shopping list together for the secretary to buy them for me. As I understand it I will need...

The Behringer speaker x2

Speaker stand x2

Now the part im not sure about, the cables. The way I have been understanding it is I want to connect the new speakers to the "monitor out" on the portable PA thing, which are 1/4" jacks, but I see people talking about XLR cables? Where would I plug the xlr cables on the PA thing? Isn't XLR the ones on the PA marked "microphone"? Or can I just buy 2 1/4" to 1/4" cables and then connect them from the monitor out to the speakers?

I will probably also need a couple of extension cables because as I understand it I will need a devote an outlet slot to each of the Behringer speakers so I will need power running back to the power strip? The only thing I am concerned about now is will I have 2 extra power cables running across the floor to each of the speakers?

Not quite sure how large of an area you need to cover, nor how loud you need it to be, but... I would recommend:

Westinghouse 2200-watt inverter generator

https://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-iGen2200-Portable-Inverter-Generator/dp/B01MUP6L1U

This is really a bit of overkill, but it's the smallest, quietest portable generator that you can get that will be reliable and rock solid. The bonus: you could use it to power a crockpot, some lighting, fans, etc., at your tailgate.

For speakers, any old powered speaker will work.

On the cheap: Behringer EuroLive

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002C4QWXQ/ref=psdc_11975001_t1_B001XWD3LC

Or, a lot nicer: Yamaha DBR12

https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-DBR-Powered-Speaker-Cabinet/dp/B00NIS8IZ0

Don't forget to purchase some stands!

Either of those speakers will consume around 120-watts each at full-tilt-boogie-annoyingly-loud levels. So, you'll have tons of extra power available with that generator.
