The Xbox One's hardware will only display on a monitor/tv at 1080p 60hz max. Anything over 60hz, such as a 144hz monitor, would be overkill not to mention more expensive. You can easily find solid 1080p 60hz monitors for around that price range. Here is a link to a great Benq model that is only $110. https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2460HM-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1497448800&sr=1-4&keywords=1080p+60+hz+monitor

I switched from a 50" plasma to a 24" monitor and it was a pretty noticable difference. I don't know if it was directly related to input lag or just being able to see everything up close. I also like sitting in a computer chair instaid of slumped on a couch or whaterver.

Here is the one I got. It is cheap and works great. My only complaint is the color isn't the most vibrant but for gaming it works just fine. If you are on a budget this one would be fine, if not maybe splurge a bit more on a nicer one.

This Would for the most portable monitor possible.

This would be for a really good monitor that's still small enough to move easily.

If those are too small I can recommend some smaller TV's that might work.

u/KobeSucks · 4 pointsr/MLBTheShow

I'm in the exact same boat as you, I was researching it for a while and I pulled the trigger on this one

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IKDFL4O/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

It was the best bang for my buck I could find, and I've absolutely loved it. The tv I was using had the absolute worst input lag and I've been shocked at not only how well MLB plays on the new monitor, but other games too. Complete game changer for almost any game you play

u/fuckflyingpigs · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I currently use a BenQ GL2760H 27-inch0= monitor, and may sell it to a friend soon. What's a good ultrawide monitor I can look for? I bought the BenQ for $170 and I'm hoping not to spend more than $250, $300 at the max.

u/mikeyaworski · 3 pointsr/uwaterloo

Amazon homie. You should tell us what your definition of "cheap" is, but I got a 24" 2ms BenQ from Amazon for $160 flat a while ago. Not sure what the current price is since the CAD tanked.

u/inevitabled34th · 3 pointsr/buildapc

No worries! I saw that and then saw the brand logo. I've never seen them before, are they pretty decent?

If you had to choose between these two, this one or this one, which would you go for?

u/chadw1701c · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I use this one and love it. I was going to get a second one but I have run out of room for it :(

Does anyone know if this monitor is a good one if I want a budget lagless monitor? I'll take any other suggestions as well.

How does this monitor look for netplay? It has a 60hz refresh rate, will I be able to get it to mirror my consoles lag online?

u/BIGBLOCK22s · 2 pointsr/xboxone

You can go cheaper, bigger, and better. I have an AOC monitor that's 27 inches and is really nice. You do have to do some tweaking cause the picture is bleh out of the box, also the speakers are garbage but I use my Logitech speakers for movies and my headset when I game.

Look for a better option.

Ah well not sure what prices are like in the US but if you can get a monitor with low response time instead for the same amount It's definitely worth it.

The BenQ GL2460HM is probably a decent choice. To be fair, don't expect 4K or anything, but 1080p on medium/high settings is possible.

Also, this link will be in Canadian Dollar (CAD) so just convert it from there.

Good luck with the build! [BenQ Monitor] (https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-24-inch-Monitor-HDMI-GL2460HM/dp/B00IKDFL4O) Cheers!

^(gosh dangit, now i wish i had gotten that instead of my current monitor... oh well)

edit 2: also if you really want IPS you can look through this

u/BEEF_SUPREEEEEEME · 2 pointsr/killerinstinct

Quick search found me this one on amazon, in your price range and 24".

Benq/Zowie are pretty much the way to go for gaming monitors in that price range, these days. Super low response time (most important thing for fighting games/most gaming in general), and great picture quality.

Here's a good site for comparing real world response rate results.

This is a link on that site showing the tested stats for the monitor I linked above. As you can see, it's rated "excellent."

See if you can find your TV on there and compare it to the monitors. You'll definitely see a marked improvement :)

Hope this helps.

Acer R240HY

It's pretty nice. 1/4 inch side bezels. Matte screen. 23.8" 1080p, IPS, 5ms. HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA (no DisplayPort but I use an adapter and it works fine). No built in speakers but there's a headphone/speaker port.

No Vesa mounts. I don't use monitor arms anyway but that could definitely be a deal breaker to some, especially since arms help a lot with lining up monitors but I had planned on just overlapping them anyway.

All in all it's not a bad monitor, but it's pretty basic. I bought it because I wanted a thin bezel for triple monitors and it does that really well. Really you're just paying for the thin bezels.

Previously I had the BenQ GL2460HM but sold it just because I wanted my monitors to match. That one is good as well, but it's TN panel. 2ms response time, had Vesa mounts, a matte screen, and speakers. The speakers weren't great, but they were good enough for regular use and if I wanted ultra gaming sound, I would use headphones anyway.

I don't regret my purchase but it definitely is situational.

Depends on her major. Either way, portability is key.

Engineering benefits from decently powerful Windows machine, except computer/software engineering, which benefits from Mac. I have a pricey Dell XPS 15 which is highly powerful and quite nice.

Defer to her judgement for other majors. Personally I loved my Mac and found it to be *much* more convenient for most use around campus. WiFi connected faster, it went to sleep and woke up faster, it was super easy to drop files to my friends, etc. The one downside is Microsoft Powerpoint is worse on Mac. A MacBook Pro is probably better than a MacBook Air, but someone else can comment on that. Annoyingly, all Apple laptops have now gone all in on USB-C, which means she needs an adapter for ordinary USB ports. Pick up a USB C to USB 3.0 Hub (like this, which includes ethernet, VGA, HDMI, etc) and a dual mode USB C/3.0 flash drive for her. Finally, Apple gives decent education discounts (see here). You can use this discount at the Apple Store at the Mall of Louisiana. Most accessories are best purchased online, not in store. Apple Care is not a bad idea.

By the way, she gets free Microsoft Office through LSU. Don't buy software for her until she's sure it isn't in the software store (TigerWare)

Before she asks or a sales person suggests, she probably doesn't need an iPad or a new phone for college. If anything, consider getting her a second monitor for her room (they're cheap--like this) and can do double duty for streaming Netflix if she's in a dorm. They're nice when you need to multitask (have notes open while researching), or have your online textbook open on one screen while your homework is on the other, etc)

u/tomkatt · 2 pointsr/linuxquestions

I have this one. Very good display, IIRC it was rated best budget display on a lot of PC review sites in 2014 or 2015.

Good color reproduction for a non-IPS, and excellent viewing angles.

I think I paid $150 for it, but it's cheaper now.

I recently picked up this monitor: BenQ GL GL2460HM 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_kxp6tb0MJ1E1Q?ie=UTF8

u/LeopardTurret · 1 pointr/buildapc

That looks like a great build. It will run most modern games on high settings @ 60fps. Also just a heads up, if you want to overclock your CPU in the future, you'll want to go for the i5-4460K, instead of the i5-4460. But if you have no plans of overclocking, the non-K will be fine.

Also here's a great gaming monitor I recommend on Amazon (BenQ is a very reliable brand):

If I’m using this monitor and decided on using the build you provided above, would you suggest switching that out? Not super knowledgeable on this so would like your insight and what made you decide the way you did!

I have two 24" monitors and I feel they're the perfect size for gaming.
One is my designated gaming monitor running @ 1ms gtg, 12m:1 ratio, and 144hz refresh.
And my 2nd is running 2ms gtg, 1k:1 ratio, and a 60hz refresh.

I would recommend, that you more likely count on HDMI because this is the future and has some advantages unlike dvi. But in case you really need a dvi port there are some cheap but still good tft monitors like http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IKDFL4O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1421245167&sr=8-1&dpPl=1&dpID=41YwPvAVn8L&ref=plSrch&pi=AC_SX200_QL40 or you just take dvi-to-whatever you need-adapter.

I'm currently gaming on a 17" LG Zenith monitor from like 2005 with horrid input lag and was needing to upgrade my monitor quite soon. I've found these two monitors on the cheap but wasn't quite sure which one would be better and was hoping maybe someone here has experience with either one.

Good $150 1080p 60hz monitor

Mech Keyboard for around $80 or A standard Logitech KB for around $15

Logitech G400s for $60 new, $30 refurbished/used or A standard wired mouse for about $10

Windows 7 or 8 don't cost anymore than $100 unless you're buying Pro for some reason, can get them very cheap on software swap subs or just pirate.

Excluding OS costs, that's $290 extra for a good gaming-centered setup, and $175 for a more budget-based setup. If you have a TV and wish to cut out monitor costs, you can hook your PC to a TV.

As for monitors, if you're playing EVE, honestly I'd recommend a 2560x1440 monitor because spreadsheets. However, since those start around $300, my go-to cheaper monitors are the not-bad 22" 1080p ones that can be had for around $140.

Source: I've done IT for the past few years, and done dozens of computer purchases/builds.

Notes: I don't buy AMD or ATI unless it's an extreme budget build. I don't buy off-brand because I've had parts break and then not have an RMA available; I've had good experience and RMA support with Corsair and EVGA. You don't really need a CD/DVD drive; you can install Windows from a USB key, but if you're unsure, CD/DVD drives are like $15. If you go with Intel/nVidia Maxwell, you won't really need a >500W PSU.

I don't like to skimp on computers much because, economically, if you're spending even 5-10% of your time waiting for your computer and you earn $10-25/hr, $1000 is paid for in somewhere between 2000-250 hours of use, yet the computer will last at least 3-5 years.

The monitor in question is this one. It is 24 inches, has speakers and is $150. I was considering getting a TV but I use this monitor for more than gaming. I use it for school work on my pc as well and I do not know how well a TV will work for small text.

I got a BenQ GL2460 and I love it and it's pretty cheap on amazon

a Benq 2460. But that picture is a screenshot, not a picture taken with an external camera, so I dont think a monitor issue would show up

That is not a 1080p it would work but I wouldnt recommend buying it. I would however recommend these two.

Thanks for the great reply. I was looking at this monitor it gets 60fps but I don't have a video card yet cause the one I was looking at is sold out everywhere. I need help to choose another since I was following someone's build and now I don't know. How can I check if a card can reach 60fps? Where do I find this on the spec list?

I bought my motherboard yesterday, I don't know if it comes with cable or not since it hasn't arrived. Was thinking I'd buy one just in case.. I was specifically looking at the monoprice ones on Amazon actually. I don't know which one I need the 90º angle one or the normal one. Is it just preference or does it make a difference? Should I get 2 one for hard drive and one for optical drive?

Edit: these are the two SATA cables I was looking at: 90º & normal

u/Xuvial · 1 pointr/StreetFighter

It will still be an issue more or less. Firstly lets clear some things up...

Input lag = the delay between hitting the button and the game engine registering your input. This is primarily determined by framerate. In any game locked to 60fps (i.e. most arcade fighters including SFV) you will always experience a max potential input lag of 16.67 milliseconds. You can't do anything about this, the only solution is a higher framerate but that is not possible with fighters.

Display lag = the delay between your hardware sending new frames to your display, and your display actually SHOWING those frames (lighting up pixels, etc).

The above can be further compounded by vertical synchronization (v-sync) which makes your hardware hold frames in a "buffer" until the display is ready to show them. By default this is always enabled on PS4 to minimize tearing, at the cost of even more display lag. On PC v-sync should be turned off immediately in settings.

In brief - regardless of whether you're playing on PS4 or PC, if you're serious about playing any game and minimizing display lag then buy a typical 1ms GTG gaming monitor like BenQ GL2460HM or Asus VN247H-P.

If you want to stick to a TV, then make sure you're using the "game mode" (even though it still doesn't come close to a monitor).

u/snoobyy · 1 pointr/buildapc

I looked around for a bit and this one looked pretty good for its cost. One thing I am worried about though is any tint it may have or any dead pixels it comes with. Will I be able to return it if there is one too many dead pixels? And will I be able to fix the tint it comes with?

u/fletcherhub3 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

I'm mid-build, and deciding on a monitor. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. The Acer KN242HYL has an IPS panel which will give you great colors and viewing angles, but a 4ms response time if that's a big deal to you. The BenQ GL2460HM has a TN panel which doesn't have wide viewing angles like an IPS, but does have a 2ms response time. Each are VESA mountable, meaning they can be hooked up to a monitor arm, and both have glossy bezels. Which one looks best for you?
Also, do you prefer a keyboard without a number pad?

u/Bash7 · 1 pointr/buildapc

150 per Monitor?
Benq2450 is pretty decent.

u/Kanontromp15 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Well, I forgot to mention it on the original post but, my whole budget is $850 but I'm using $150 to buy a 24" 60hz 1080p monitor. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKDFL4O/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2XONTUZB3A0CX&colid=2ND91ZX7KZXTK .... Now, if I were able to use my current computer's screen as my new PC's monitor, then I would. And I would be able to add that other 150 to my PC budget. The thing is, I'm using a 27" iMac 2011 and I'm not entirely sure it would display correctly because of the size, if it were to be compatible at all.

How/where to sell monitor without huge loss?

I bought this monitor about a month ago for about $130 to play PS4, but have not played too much.

BenQ GL2460HM 24 Inch 1080p... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IKDFL4O?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I decided about two weeks ago I need a new laptop (6 years old, running down) so I decided I will throw the money into building a PC. However, I do not want to disservice myself and have under 144Hz, so I want to sell this monitor in preparation for building. Facebook marketplace is offering me a solid $40, and no bites from anywhere else. I realize the model itself came out a few years ago, but I feel there has to be SOMEWHERE I can sell the monitor for only a little less than I bought?

u/mirisbowring · 1 pointr/PC_Builds

I've had the BenQ gl2450H for 5 years (it got a refresh already) and can absolutely recommend it...
The TN panel with eyesens doesn't make you feel tired if you turn down the brightness...
It has a super quick response time (good for nearly every game) and it just cost me 120€ here in Germany...
Also you could check for a 144Hz monitor (the 1070 should handle it in most games)

I have the BenQ Gl2450hm but I can't seem to find it on amazon.com (as opposed to amazon.co.uk) but this seems like a good option: http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2460HM-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419366737&sr=8-1&keywords=benq+gl2450

In terms of astros, I can't personally comment about quality because I don't have a pair. However my friend managed to get a pair of A50s including everything that comes with them for £120 because he got them after being refurbished. If you want some Astros on a budget then refurbished seems like the way to go because my friend has nothing but praise for them.

Do you have Prime? If so you could try AOC i2769Vm 27-inch on sale for 298.03, I've heard pretty good things about AOC as a midrange monitor (27 inches for that price isn't that bad either).

These BenQ monitors GL2460HM 1xHDMI 24", RL2455HM 2xHDMI 24", RL2755HM 2xHDMI 27" are nice if you're willing to use TN (generally more bang for your buck size wise).

Hello guys,

I have a 17 inch laptop and I want to get a new monitor. I will use the new monitor as the main monitor for my laptop, and plug a Nintendo Switch to it.

The important stuffs:

  • Purchasing in Canada (I only looked at Amazon.ca, any other good alternatives?)

  • I think I want an IPS but not fully decided

  • No need for G-Sync/FreeSync; but need HDMI (laptop constraints)

  • Looking for 1080p60 (cant output any higher)

  • Since I will use it for both PC and Switch, I was thinking that having 2 HDMI inputs on the monitor would be great, but not necessary.

  • Main use: Gaming (Dota, Civ, Many Indies, Nothing too demanding)

  • Secondary use: Media, Web (TV Shows & Movies all in 1080p, Reddit, Essay Writing)

  • Budget: $150-$300

Got these on my list so far: ASUS VS248H-P, ASUS VS239H-P, BenQ GL2460HM, Acer S241HL, ASUS VE247H

Any help would be greatly appriciated :)

    Thank you!

I'm looking for a new monitor(s). I have a budget of $400 + tax.

Games: Witcher 3 / Heroes of the Storm / Occasional single player FPS (Doom/Wolfenstein)

Computer: i7 + 1060

*I don't need games to be on max settings

My first thought is buying the BenQ GW2765HT (27", 1440, IPS, 4ms) from Amazon. Will the 4ms response time bother me?

My second thought is buying something like two BenQ GL2460HM (24", 1080, TN, 2ms)

Thoughts or suggestions? I'm open to other brands as well, not just BenQ.

0 days as 768p is just unusable. 1080p is a basic minimum for almost anything. 1440p is the current sweat spot for productivity. For gaming though 1440p is really tough and requires a 1070 or better card. Given all your video options, you need to sqeeze $130 dollars and get a cheap 1080p monitor like this. I'm not endorsing this monitor, just an example.

Sorry for the delay in suggestions.

Here are some that I've found fit your needs for a reasonable price:

BenQ GL2760H

Samsung LS27E330HZX/ZA

BenQ ZOWIE RL2755

If you're only going to be gaming on a Switch there's no need to spend extra money on Freesync or a high refresh rate.

This looks to be a decent cheaper option:

I've never used one myself because of their increased response times but since it probably won't affect you, people often prefer the look of an IPS panel monitor. Here's a cheap one but it is only 23.8" if that's alright:

is this monitor upgrade worth it?

My Current Monitor I'm planning to sell it for 80-100 (based on the prices I see around eBay, perfect condition, 2.5 years old)

I'm looking to upgrade into this or the 27" version for $249.

I'm using a gtx 970 and i5 4460, I only game on 1080p. Games I play most of the time are Dota2 and Overwatch. Some AAA games as well like AC series and some if the prices are right.

You have it backwards actually. If you bought a high end monitor using a low end video card, your computer likely wouldn't be able to support the 4k resolution forcing you to downscale to 1920x1080 anyhow. Honestly I wouldn't worry about rushing 4k or you'll be looking at probably no less than $1,000 in upgrades.

A nice monitor changes everything though, if you're using a cheap TV as one then I would 100% recommend getting a nice flat panel screen as your #1 upgrade. I've gone through my fair share of monitors and personally BenQ ended up really growing on me. The quality is super sharp and they're wayyy cheaper than the big brand equivalents (Samsung, LG, etc). At home I currently use a 27" for games/movies and a secondary 24" for browsing/chat/text though both do the exact same thing and have the same menus and settings.

(PRIME DAY STARTS ON TUESDAY, THESE PRICES MAY GO DOWN)

24" Monitor - BenQ GL2460HM 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor -=$139=-

27" Monitor - BenQ RL2755HM 27 inch Console Gaming Monitor -=$257=-

Both run at the 1920x1080 resolution but a super important unmentioned note, use a DVI cable, do not use an HDMI cable or it will look bad by comparison.
