You will basically end up with these. The 32in BenQ will work for what you listed. The 32in Asus is $226 more, but is top quality professional. If you want to splurge there is the Acer Predator. If you want a great 27in for the price, then there is the View Sonic.

I would go with 32in because why even go 4k if you aren't using 32in. The Acer and Asus are overkill (predator is for gaming/Asus professional photo editing). So that leaves you with the BenQ, which is perfect for what you want a 4k monitor for.

This was my previous setup. I moved the case below the desk due to the desk actually bending (it weighs around 75 lbs...)

I just installed my new 32" and will probably do some tweaks before I'm satisfied - open for suggestions!

I use this monitor (4K and 32in.) and I've actually attempted playing in 4K, so I can offer some insight here.

Zoom gets disabled since you can see the whole area (with tiny characters!) You can scale the UI elements up to 130%, so it doesn't suffer from the problem that Unity games generally have, which is terrible text/ui scaling.

Now it looks pretty bad, but you go into your game console and do this: "SetZoomRange 0.5 2" and it'll re-enable zooming, allowing you to actually see characters/environmental detail. The first number is the minimum zoom range and the second is the max zoom range, so you can play with it to get one that works for you (the above worked perfectly for me). Sometimes when you transition areas, you get a weird zoom bug that blocks your ability to zoom in/out, and you'll have to re-enter the console command to fix it.

Ultimately, my recommendation is to play the game at 1080— things look best (and less blurry in some instances) and you run into a lot less bugs. Still, if you're willing to put in the time to do a few tweaks on the side, you can get it to run smoothly... it's just not going to look that much better.

  I love my benq monitor, I have the 32 inch version, UHD, that displays 100% SRGB.
  
  The amazon link shows cheaper monitors, I'm assuming since the most expensive one $800. is great you can get a cheaper one and it will still be great. It's nice to edit on a screen displaying the colors as closes as possible.

It's a great monitor for a lot of things. Gaming included but the price just isn't worth it IMO. I have a few people in my household that use to use it for other tasks so we all chipped in for it.

I will most likely be purchasing a 2k monitor at the beginning of 2017.

Yeah me too... the BenQ one looks droolworthy. But no matter how hard I try I can't justify spending $1k on a single monitor.
