I've been wanting to develop my nonexistent musical skills for a while and am getting a guitar. I figured I should get the cheapest reliable one I could find til I've proved I'll actually stick with it.

Can someone who knows guitars can tell me what is "expensive enough"/ what makes a good acoustic guitar? There are a ton of options.

> the ones I've seen on Amazon are pretty cost effective for a SS exchange.

Good call, i didn't realize that.

thanks so much man this has been really helpful. I wish they'd have a disclaimer in YT tutorials instead of just saying "yeah tune down all your strings am an octave for this song!"

Looked up a soundhole humidifier, is it worth getting one for a cheap guitar I got for free ([it costs about 40 on Amazon] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0049J4O0K/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1480955632&sr=8-7&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=bag+nylon+string+guitar&dpPl=1&dpID=51X%2BKuY9AcL&ref=plSrch) , had steel strings and body damage on it when I got it, to give you an idea of its condition).

edit: shit I think it was meant to have steel strings just looked at its amazon page

Hopefully I get to replace it with a real guitar soon, I'm thinking of getting an electric, a [Yamaha Pacifica] (https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-Pacifica-PAC012-Electric-Metallic/dp/B0002GZWZ0) because it's entry level and versatile ($150, twin humbuckers plus single coil), and the two styles I'm interested in are blues and grunge. A lot of those songs take a ton of arranging to sound interesting and 'full' on acoustic without pedals etc [this guy is my favorite example] (https://youtu.be/rwpi6vkiAgA)

At the same time I want to replace the classical with a proper acoustic, so I'm fairly torn on what to do.

Hey all, I'm a noob with guitars. I'm planning to buy a beginner's guitar to learn a few basics and try out some of my favorite tracks. Is Amazon a good place to shop for them? My budget is quite small, probably around $50.

Is this a good guitar? The reviews are decent.
