I use it at least once a week for something because my toddler and my husband are a train wreck.

Give her a box, okay. Her own home. Every cat needs one.

You're doing very well, you're a good cat owner.

Think of it from the cat's perspective. She has to live in this strange place, full of unfamiliar smells and odd noises. She needs her own box. Her own little place.

She probably wants her mama. Fuzzy blanket + warm will go a long way to fixing this problem.

And...as I said. All cats barf, some far more than others. You are a very good cat mama, but let this go for a bit, okay. You are probably making her more anxious.

Don't fast her. It will just create worse problems down the line. She's going to barf, oh well, clean it up. My Meez barfed everywhere for a year - he was my dad's, and dad died, so the poor cat was stuffed into this tiny little carrier and then stuffed under an airplane seat, then decanted into a house full of other cats, all hostile - he even barfed in my hair while I was asleep. That...that was disgusting. Showering at 3 in the morning is not my idea of fun. But. He was very upset. I can understand that. I fucked up badly, should have locked him in a room by himself, but, well, I'd just put my dad to sleep, and moving in with husbnd, and wasn't exactly thinking clearly. Or at all.

Cat got over it, eventually. Yours will too. There is no behavior modifaction needed apart from making the kitty feel loved and safe. Restricting food will not do that; it just makes them fretful. Again, think about it from the cat's point of view. She is nervous, scared, new house what the hell, who are these people, etc. Give her a warm box, and feed her the recommended amount every day, don't chase or bother her, and she'll eventually want to talk to you.

Source: one of my cats was a feral that I catnapped. She hid in my closet for a year. Yes. A year. I ignored her. Eight years later, can't get her to leave me alone for a minute.

Common wisdom says you can't tame a feral. Ha. Tell Lela that.

Anyway. Set up that warm box, and maybe do the old towel over the top thing; it will give her her own space. Cats need it, and need it to be enclosed. Especially anxious cats; they have to have a cave to hide in.

Don't expect immediate results, either. You're going to have to wash the catbox bedding a lot. Don't use scented stuff, they hate that. She'll chill out after a while; until then, let her come to you. In other words, ignore her. Let her explore, and you stay put, wherever you are. She is learning this big scary new place, and you are the most frightening thing in it - you're big, can be loud, etc. Sit still, and she will come to you, eventually. Cats are predators, so they know very well that bigger things can kill them. Silence and stillness are what will help you here. Also patience. Yes, it might take a year. So what?

She might still barf a lot. Get a handheld carpet cleaner, and deal with it. Some cats are just barfers.
