Something like the BLU Advance 5.0, it will never get OS updates and the build quality is awful, but it's cheap.

Can I offer an alternative? Why don't you buy a temporary Android phone for $100 and save for the next few months to buy an iphone later on? I am just offering this suggestion because I am personally against a line of credit for consumer items.

Full Disclosure: I love iOS and Android equally, I own an iPhone but I always put financial priorities first. I saved up for my iPhone 7 over the last year to buy it outright.

10 Hours later, and the phone is still rebooting in circles.

I just ordered this pos: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018IZ0SWI/ref=twister_B01MPXRXR0

I'm not too informed on the current budget phones like your ZTE or anything.

Two phones that you could get on Swappa for around $50 would be the Nexus 4 or the HTC One X.

Both good phones but of course quite old now (2013). My Nexus 4 that I use as a backup sometimes can still hang though, with a Marshmallow rom on it (if tinkering with roms isn't your thing this and the One X might not be the best options).

The One X would be for AT&T and can get LTE from them. The Nexus 4 is best suited for T-Mobile and can get HSPA from them.

If you want something newer, you could look into the 1st Gen Moto E. It doesn't have 4G like the 2nd gen, but should be a very good phone for the price point.

I did a little research and I think the best phone that would be brand new would probably be the Blu Advance 5.0

I don't know a ton about it, but it's the #1 best selling unlocked phone on Amazon, and has a lot of positive reviews. Probably a decent bet.

I like my Blu phone and they have cheap ones. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018IZ0SWI/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481491831&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=BLU&dpPl=1&dpID=41mXjdLezRL&ref=plSrch

They're pretty basic android set ups. Get into a chat with ting and link them the phone and your address, they'll be able to help you out. That's how I made sure.

I didn't end up getting it because no one responded in time. There're plenty of phones you can get running lollipop for around $50 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018IZ0SWI?psc

u/afig2311 · 1 pointr/AnimalCrossing

I'm not trying to justify Nintendo's decision, but you can get a decent Android phone for ~$60 if you're interested. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018IZ0SWI/

I can see that you don't like expensive phones, otherwise I would've recommended the Galaxy S7. I also uncommonly recommend to others any phone that is not made by a large manufacturer because I feel as they are the best. But, a brand named BLU has caught my eye recmently and I really like what I've seen of their phones.

Two that I'd recommend for you is the Life One X($150) or the Advance 5.0($60). I am unaware if a Advance 6.0 is coming soon, because I'm not as much of a phone geek as I used to be.

Are you on iOS or Android?

If you are on iOS, then downloading from the App Store should work.

If you are on Android, then the APK file can be downloaded from APK Mirror.

If you are on Windows Phone, then you probably already bought one of these or these from Amazon, and you can download the aforementioned APK file from APK Mirror to that device.

Does anyone know if the BLU Advance 5.0 phone can run SW decently? If not is there any phone around the price range <$100? I'm currently playing too much on my iphone and the battery is shot so I want something I can carry around to play/not have it be as big as a tablet.

I bought the amazon prime version of this phone for that exact reason and it works great. (I also have an Iphone 7 and in SW i really see no difference)

It'll be tough to find something for $40 unless you're willing to buy used, but here's a good phone for $60: https://www.amazon.com/BLU-Advance-5-0-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B018IZ0SWI/

If you really want to go cheap try Swappa: https://swappa.com/buy/smartphones

The only Pi-VR stuff i've found was a kickstarter, and those are known for failing.

Generic Amazon search:

cheap phone.

Should be fine to get started using something like google cardboard.

Why doesn't anyone recommend the Blu Advance? It's under $60

Bam. $80 instead of 600 or however much a n iPhone costs.

What do you think about the Blu Advance 5.0 for $60?

u/Anonemice · 1 pointr/amazon

Hmmm...I can get it on Prime right now, says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.ca. Gift-wrap available." I'm not trying to argue, just figure out what's going on with this phone.

You can get a reasonably decent dual sim phone for eighty bucks if you want to carry a burner phone for international travel. Has the advantage of grabbing a disposable pay as you go local sim card to toss in while still being able to get calls/texts at your main number.

u/NeedPass · 1 pointr/gadgets

I would just buy a "Blu" cell phone and not activate any service on it. You can still use the phone with wifi. Check this one out. It has all the features you want: bluetooth, camera, wifi, and an sd card slot.

Hmm, I was thinking this because its Amazon's #1 in Unlocked Phones. But its $110 it looks like so I was debating this #3:

https://www.amazon.com/BLU-Advance-5-0-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B018IZ0SWI/ref=zg_bs_2407749011_3

What do you think of it/how it compares?

u/archover · 1 pointr/Nicaragua

Sounds like using a phone for turn by turn navigation is adequate in Nicaragua. I will pursue that route.

Does this cell phone (dual sim GSM) seem like it would do the job? https://www.amazon.com/BLU-Advance-5-0-Unlocked-Smartphone/dp/B018IZ0SWI/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1466391701&sr=1-1&keywords=blu+cell+phone Updated: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/blu-vivo-xl-4g-lte-with-16gb-memory-cell-phone-unlocked-solid-gold/4934002.p?id=bb4934002&skuId=4934002

The crossed out phone had bad reviews in terms of onboard drive space. Not really enough for maps. The new phone has good reviews.

Thanks to /u/dhcanada and /u/el_nica !!

Looking forward to the trip!

In the market for an android phone to retro game on. I'm pretty new to this so any help would be cool. My highest wants are to play N64, Dreamcast, GC, XBox, and PS2, but I mostly want Snes and other retro systems. I found THIS PHONE and wanted to ask if it looks good.

Price ok? Specs ok? Thanks
