Consider getting some beard oil. You rub it in after you shower and it leaves your beard soft, shiny, and smelling nice. I recommend this.

Check out the beards subreddit.

I've had a beard for about a couple years now. Here's my advice to any Muslim who just started:

General Islaamic Tips
-

  • Remember Allaah is rewarding you for doing so. If people are making fun of you, Allaah will reward you for your patience.
  • Get ready for Muslims to tell you to shave it off, or "just cut it from the sides a little bit."
  • Get ready to be called "Shaykh."
  • Get ready for everyone to think you're fluent in Arabic. And if you're not, get ready for them to turn into animals and get angry you're growing a beard but don't know Arabic.
  • Remember that the pagans and idol worshipers grow their mustaches and shave their beards. You're countering them in their movement, expressing to them and to Allaah your disapproval for their Shirk and their people and Allaah loves that.
  • Memorize the proofs for growing the beard. Because Muslims debate you and get angry and say it's not required.
  • Remember that what is above the eyes and below the chin is permissible to trim.

    Grooming Tips
    -
  • When sleeping on your side, remember to have your beard touching the pillow in a way that when you wake up, it doesn't mess it up.
  • Use beard oil. It keeps it shiny and good looking, and a tiny bit straighter. This is a good one.
  • If you want more straight hair, use beard balm. This is a good one.
  • Use scissors to cut the extra long hairs. Extra long hairs that grow separate from the other hairs make the beard look messy. If you keep those trimmed, your beard will look beautiful. Trimming the beard after a fist length is part of the Sunnah of the companions.
  • Remember to look at your beard from the side too when grooming on the morning.
  • Remember to Shampoo it just like you shampoo your normal hair.
  • I don't remember the source, but I read that what is below the jaw line and above the eyes is permissible to cut (since it's not part of the beard).

    Other Tips
    -
  • If food bits falls into your beard, simple patting or hitting on the beard takes them out.
  • Get ready for compliments. "Nice beard, bro!"

May Allaah make the beard easy for you and give you a great experience!

Remember that most shampoos dry out hair...

  • Try to shampoo your beard as little as possible. Once a week is enough. When you do clean it, I recommend using organic soaps or at the very least shampoos that moisturize and are designed for kinky/curly hair. There are also numerous shampoos and soaps made specifically for beards. You can use a moisturizing/detangling conditioner as much as you like, but don't get crazy.

  • Apply beard oil or balm at least once a day. I recommend this or this, but I hear good things about Fuzzworthy as well.
  • Buy a boar bristle brush, and brush your beard throughout the day.
  • Take your vitamins! Vitamins and minerals such as b-complex, d, zinc, and iron all promote healthy looking hair.

Follow these steps and your beard will be lustrous in no time!

Most likely. Here is what I use it's amazing in scent and doesn't leave any residue or greasy feeling. The scent itself is woodsy with a hint of lime.

I use this wash and this oil.....and my beard is cloud-like, and you don't get that pesky beard-dandruff (beardruf?)

Botanical Skin Works. The label started peeling off last month, so I pulled it off and threw it out. It may have had a date I never noticed, but now I can't check. Regardless, I regret not buying from a small-batch operation, like a lot of the one-man-bands that hang around here.

I got this one for my boyfriend and he really likes it https://www.amazon.ca/Natural-Man-Bay-Lime-Beard/dp/B0062K33CE

This is the one I use. Smells great, and I never have dandruff when I use it - which is about once a week.

When you get oil for it. I've been growing mine for about 9 months now and until I got some beard oil it itched until I'd literally break the skin itching. After oil, there's no itch at all.

u/SaskatoonBerryPie · 1 pointr/gaybros

After beards grow in more, the itchy phase tends to go away. I agree with others about conditioning, but I think conditioning mostly makes it look/feel better. I really like beard oil. This is what I use.

u/Grizzly_Bears · 1 pointr/beards

Well I am new to having a beard, so others may know of better products. But I use tea tree conditioner in the shower and beard oil.

u/MiatasAreForGirls · 1 pointr/AskMen

I just buy the cheap shit off Amazon for now cause I'm so busy with school and stuff. Once I graduate I'll make it myself.

Every morning.

Beard oil for sure. That will help with it getting caught but u'll still need to brush it more often. Losing beard hair is inevitable alot usually isn't much unless it's like chunks at a time.

The link is my go to. It's the best bang for ur buck, smells nice, always leaves the beard feeling soft. U can put it on in the beginning of the day or at night before u sleep.

As for the moustache, they do sell curved scissors to cut where it curls into ur mouth if u still want to keep the girth of it. Otherwise I personally use the #1-#2 guard on those trimmer combos. This way u still have the coverage without the bothersome length.

New to beards, but I immediately experienced nice results with Natural Man Beard Oil - Bay Lime. I love the smell, it softened my young beard, and it alleviated itching within a couple days of using it.

I found it on Amazon for $15 for 4 oz. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but this is bargain compared to the rest. Maybe you'll find something you like more eventually, but Bay Lime is not a bad place to start. Frankly, I'm tempted to put it on about 5x a day because it smells and feels so good, but I only do it once in the morning after showering.

Seems way too expensive.

I use this stuff: Botanical Skin Works Beard Oil $14usd for 4 oz., smells of limes.

All this stuff generally does the same thing, may as well get your monies worth.

u/foxsable · 1 pointr/AskMen

Beard Oil. I like the one linked, because the smell is all consuming and addictive. But it really keeps your bear soft.

u/BigBennP · 0 pointsr/pics

I use this stuff It's nice, smells just a little bit citrusy, and keeps my beard soft.
