I used some bracket pole mounts which are linked below to mount to the chair arm then used industrial strength velcro to attach the HOTAS to the mount for easy removal. It aligns perfectly with the placement ingame and adds serious immersion in VR it gives the sense that my arms are the arms in game.

Something like this.
Is this a good mount for HOTAS?
What kind of HOTAS can mount to it?
I have a Logitech extreme 3d pro, will it work?
For everything in part 1, I found it all at my local Home Depot. Shipping that kind of heavy stuff would be pretty expensive. For everything I ordered online, I try to always include an Amazon link.
For clamp-type systems, try searching for 'vesa pole mount'. Something like this is what people tend to use when they go the clamp route.
Good luck!
No problem! If you're on a budget, definitely grab the explorer at $99. Know that the Vives will have better tracking and having the motion controllers opens up a whole world of gaming options (just not for Elite). But if we're just talking Elite, the difference between flat screen and the Explorer is waaaaay bigger than the difference between the explorer and the Vive pro, especially when you consider cost.
If you're looking for more immersion after the explorer, I'd get a good hotas if you don't have one already (I have the x52 pro), a buttkicker for your chair, and for the icing on the cake, mount your hotas to your chair directly - you can feel the vibrations from the buttkicker in your hands through the hotas. Makes flying through the mail slot sooooo awesome. I'm using some cheap TV mounts and velcro to attach my hotas to my chair

Depends on your chair setup, particularly the type of arms. If you have a chair with a big loop/"D"-shaped arms (usually attached at front and rear of the arm), 2 of these seem to be popular (with a small, square board screwed on + velcro). Alternatively, you can use simple large shelf brackets screwed to the bottom of your chair (if it has a wooden base i.e. is not a mesh chair).
In my case, with this chair, I ordered an extra set of arms and have them attached forward of the main set - with the big silver, adjustable part removed. I then have a simple bracket/square plate setup bolted to the top of arm brackets.
Btw, /r/homecockpits is a useful source of info and had quite a few chair builds on there, last I looked.

Hotas are Held with Velcro
Here's a more expensive but less damaging one that I used for my x52 pros.

I'm using these bracket mounts on the arms of an office chair with industrial strength velcro. 100% removeable, no drilling. The only downside is the top of the chair's arms get in the way so the stick and throttle aren't centered over the middle of the bracket. It's secure enough though.
old high back office chair ive had for years. used these to mount: http://www.amazon.com/Bracket-Pole-Mount-VESA75-100/dp/B00BCRRUQ2/ref=sr_1_1
added a little velcro to hold the hotas in place.

These, for mounting to your chair arms. You'll need to add a piece for wood or something for the controller to sit on. When I was using them, I attached mine to the wood with the heavy duty velcro that's already been mentioned.
Some no-slip shelf liner that'd cost you a couple bucks at the local hardware store or Wal-Mart or Amazon would work fine if you want to leave the controls on the desk. It's what my girlfriend uses for her t1600.m throttle.
Something that I'm going to try: There is a pole that holds the monitor up. I'm going to use a VESA bracket pole mount like this one. I will clamp that onto the pole of the monitor mount, and then screw the VESA bracket to my monitor mount, acting as a reverse adapter. This seems overkill but I think that it would work
Found these guys in the "frequently bought with" section of the X55 page, anybody have first hand experience with them?
