Several years back, I tried out the Braun one that's got the R2D2-looking base with the liquid cleaning cartridges in the bottom. The whole production. It was anything but cheap. It was essentially a prior generation of this thing.
I used it for a couple of months, then went back to the Mach 3 (it was ~2002 or so when I did this, if memory serves). I went DE about 4 years ago.
My beard grows fast. On the electric, I had 11am shadow. With a Mach 3, I'd start showing about 3 or 4pm. With the DE, I'm not noticeably stubbly until 7 or 8pm.
I have had a very rough relationship with my face throughout my teen and adult life. I started shaving with cheap electrics. That is what my father uses and I was never taught the art of shaving firsthand.
After going through several electrics I decided to go straight Man-Mode and subscribed to r/wicked_edge. I researched and watched a couple hours of instructional video. Picked out all the equipment to start my journey. It was a mess. It was a solid three weeks of shaving disaster. I would have to apply too much pressure to my face in order to get the hairs off. I never cut myself but the skin irritation would be unbearable. One time I accidentally shaved my lips. ow.
Back to square one. I went on amazon and searched for the best electric shaver money could buy. Cost be damned I am sick of hurting my face. Amazon reviews lead me to the Braun series 7 shavers. I selected the Braun Series 7-760cc. This is the best shaving experience I have ever had. Works great. Leaves my face irritation free. After every use the charging station cleans the unit. The cleaning cartridges are relatively cheap if you buy them in bulk. I have absolutely no complaints about this shaver. I am reaching 1 year of use without any problems.
