It's called the diploma privilege. If you graduate from Marquette or UW, no bar exam.

I think Wisconsin is the only state remaining that uses it. Several states used to use it. Back in the day, you didn't have to go to law school to become a lawyer. (You still don't in some states.) So I think they used the diploma privilege to induce people to go to law school; the inducement was you didn't have to take the bar.

But don't quote me on that. My coauthor on my first book wrote a couple chapters on legal education topics like becoming a lawyer without going to law school, and becoming a lawyer without taking the bar.
