I use this Cable Matters dongle https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0K0DL2/ to connect to an elderly 1600x1200 DVI monitor and it works fine. I do get a warning from the BIOS that it is not charging at the full 45 watts but it keeps the battery charged. I suppose under heavy continuous load it might not keep it fully charged.

Edit: I'm using it with a 9730 if that matters.

I found 2 different mini-docks on Amazon (USA). I have 3x Cable Matters mini-docks and 1x CableCreations min-docks. Both devices work with my XPS 15, XPS 13 and Samsung Chromebook Plus (v1, arm). Hope this helps.

I have this HDMI-only adapter:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X4S5C7G

and this Dell adapter with HDMI & Ethernet:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012DT6KW2

Both work fine with my XPS-13 9350.

Given that the above HDMI-only adapter works well, this HDMI & Ethernet adapter from the same vendor would probably be good (it's cheaper than the Dell):

been using the 7470 (from work) and is a great machine as all the pluggable ports are in the back side. 7480 placed all the ports on the side which I hate. You can overcome this with this device which I am using with my Lenovo T480

I've bought and used a bunch of these without any issues. I've tested them with both Macbook Pros and Dell XPS laptops.

no worries man I got the dongle on the link below. So far with the addition of this monitor having 2 USB ports I have not needed another.

I was looking for the same, ended up ordering this:

Cable Matters USB-C to 4K HDMI Multiport Adapter with 2x USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and Power Delivery (Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible) in Black ($49.99 CAD from amazon.ca)

Haven't received it yet, but FWIW, according to the amazon.com Q&A, it should work well with Chromebooks.

I bought this for my X1C6. It does USB-C power delivery (PD) something that even Lenovo's Travel Hub can't do at twice the price.

Cable Matters USB C Multiport Adapter (USB C Dock with USB C to HDMI 4K), 2X USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and 60W PD in Black - USB-C & Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible -- US$40

Wow thank you so much for all of this!

So if I’m reading you correctly: with the hub shown here you were able to get all of the accessories and HDMI runnning while charging on the default charger that came with the GPD2 with no problem?

EDIT - - above was the hdmi model, currently looking for the displayport one that you used to confirm.

And the by selecting the HDMI 2 output, you were able to transmit audio to the TV (or whatever device was connected) through the hub /displayport cable?

EDIT 2 - - It appears only the HDMI model is available on amazon in Canada - not the displayport version that you tested with. Would you be willing to bet that the power draw on that format is not what was causing the issue on the previous hub? It looks like the closest thing I can find to a solution so far. Thanks again. I think this is my best bet but I'll wait for you to weigh in.

I have been using this for over a year with my macbook and it works just as well with my pixelbook: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0K0DL2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It only handles one monitor, but it has power pass-through (and gig ethernet and 2x USB3), and most dual monitor hubs cost over $200, this one is only $37. Can't go wrong.

u/FiendFyre498 · 1 pointr/Dell

I have this one that I know works (HDMI and Ethernet), but I think the one he was trying to link is this one from the same company with some more options and seemingly a better design.

I had a cable matters one which was$38USD but i returned it because the Ethernet Port didn't work and i really hated how short the cable was. It made for a messy workspace But for the price i guess it was good enough. The 60w power delivery was good enough for my t580 (which has a65w charger)

Note that it does not support HDMI 4K/60Hz. It is not possible to make a USB-C adapter with USB 3.0 and HDMI 4K/60Hz - it will have to be either USB 2.0, or HDMI with a lower max resolution.

I use this one:
Cable Matters USB-C to 4K HDMI Multiport Adapter with 2x USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and Power Delivery (Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible for 2017 MacBook and iMac) in Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0K0DL2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

It works great for me on my XPS 13 running Ubuntu 17.10.
