I don't trust anything that doesn't have center knurling.

This doesn't, shipping weight 19.25 pounds

This does, shipping weight 45 pounds.

My gym has both and I've picked them up one after another and couldn't really tell, but I'm so paranoid about it I just switch out for one with the knurling in the middle.

edit: Another example of a 7-foot PR buster. 32 pounds.

Thank you! I'm certain that the bench accommodates 7' standard bars as well. As a beginner, do I really need the Olympic sized bars? Would something like this be better in your opinion?

One of these http://www.amazon.com/Cap-Barbell-Regular-Chromed-84-Inch/dp/B000LOBPYK and I weighed it on our shipping scale.

It all depends on what bar you're using. I've seen some 45# bars sag with 315, I've seen some remain entirely straight with over 600 loaded up. There's a big difference between this and this.

Continue to get stronger. It's only a matter of time.

They do exist, they are skinniner as you can imagine. It looks like this one on amazon is 7ft (84"), 20lb - http://www.amazon.com/CAP-Barbell-Regular-Solid-Chromed/dp/B000LOBPYK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410033709&sr=8-1&keywords=7+ft+1+inch+barbell . The weight capacity is 250lb, but people in the comments say they did 410lb with it no problem.

I bought this one for my daughter to work out with me.

I believe the weight limit is 200 lbs. I’m not sure, but it’s in the item description.
