heres a new version of your old watch, i recently bought it and love it. btw i also have a rangeman and wear this new one more often because the size is smaller. oh and its still solar and atomic like the rangeman.

GWM850 & GWM500A. I'm interesested in exactly the same question 7 have these on my Amazon wish list.

If you get sick of casio you can try the Citizen alternative.

[WTB] The cheapest G-Shock with tough solar and radio atomic sync (aka multiband).

I don't care about any other features. This will be a tool with a specific use case, not a fashion statement, so I'm not interested in any limited edition or expensive watches. I can get a brand new GWM500A-1
on Amazon for $70 shipped, so that's the deal to beat.

Thanks!!

I'd say Citizen Eco-Drive (for analog) or Casio (for analog or digital). While Seiko does have solar watches, they don't seem to be as popular as Citizen or Casio (Seikos are still good watches, though).

Citizen has some really nice dressier solar watches, while Casio has some very rugged and functional ones. In particular, Casio's G-Shock line is perhaps the gold standard for rugged (but not necessarily pretty) watches (but not all G-Shocks are solar, though).

If you can find an affordable one, and live in an area where it can be used, a solar/atomic watch is also useful. Casio makes a lot of affordable options, like this one, but they're not necessarily the prettiest. Citizen tends to make higher-end versions. Citizen also has an awesome solar/GPS watch that works worldwide, but it's not cheap at ~$862.

Edit: also, when looking at watches on Amazon, double-check the specs with an outside website. The specifications on an amazon listing aren't always correct.

Solar charged, sets itself with the atomic clock every morning, automatic light... I've had mine for almost five years and it's held up really well.

I've been wearing a GW-M500-A1 for a couple years now with no complaints.

Cheapest solar g shocks:

GWM500A-1 - $70

GW6900-1 - $76.50

GWM5610-1 - $84, easily the most popular cheap g shock

I recommend going through this thread for bluetooth functions

But really the only thing I use it for is to check the battery level, but while doing that it automatically time syncs. I don't live somewhere where I always get atomic.
