I would also recommend a solar atomic watch. Currently I have two. One G-Shock GW7900B1 for rugged use and one Citizen AT4007-54E for work/suit.

One slight problem with the GW7900B1 though. It was my first choice overall in the G-Shock series because it combines Shock resistance, Multi-Band 6 and Tough Solar features but after a couple of months only, rivets on the bezel started to fall. Big disapointment. I realised I'm not the only one and found this thread and this thread about the problem and how to order/replace the lost rivets.

My suggestion to you would be the GW2310 or the GW2310FB-1CR if you like reverse display.

It all depends on your budget too.

I have no clue if it's a popular model or not, but I was in the market for a gshock as a weekend beater, and I really took a liking to this one:

Solar, atomic, rugged, but not too flashy. I've had it for 6 months or so now, and it's been solid.

Not op but I've worn the GW2310-FB-1CR almost every day for 2 years and love it. And no, it's not hard to see in the daytime. The solar atomic time keeping is on point. Mine has stayed on full charge since I've gotten it. Also the rubber band is the most comfortable rubber watch band I've ever worn.

Industrial painter here, I used a cheap Gshock for 4 years and it is still working, but i've replaced it with a more expensive version, and ive dipped both and washed both in some pretty hardcore thinners and solvents.

GW2310fb is the watch that served me exceptionally well, I could take some pics of it of how it held up over all those years of use if you really wanted, but aside from scratched glass and paint all over it, its 100% functional.

Currently using the GW9400 for about a year now but i've been taking especially good care of it to not get paint on it but the bumps and smacks have been aplenty, and it still looks like it just came out of the box.

edit: Added current watch

I have one available GW2310FB-1CR with bullbars for 75. I would rate it in a B condition just being on the safe side. Worn a hand full of times.

It looks like a GW2310 at a guess.
