I got my cats this model. They can't get enough of it.

I like it better than the "waterfall" style fountains because its higher up off the ground and doesn't get gunked up as easy with dust and stray cat hair and such.

Used to use this Catit fountain for my cat. Wasn't sure if she was using it much and was getting tired of maintaining it.
Picked up a steel bowl for her water and noticed that while it looked like she was using the bowl more, she would always bat it around then lap up the spilled water off the floor.
Found a shallower ceramic bowl(4oz capacity maybe?). She'll still bat it once in a while, but only once before she starts drinking, so my guess is she's checking the water level

Another alternative if your cats don't like the Aqua Cube style fountains is this vertical style fountain. My cats didn't like the ones that shoot out but with this one they drink a lot more.

I actually have one of my cats on urinary food because she refused to drink water to the point where she was developing UTIs. She refuses to eat any kind of wet food as well. But with this fountain she's been drinking a lot more.

I suggest the Catit fountain, extremely easy to clean and doesn't cost an arm & a leg. I bought it for $19.99 a year ago and I'd buy it for the $24.99 it is now. There's a new model that is exactly the same but comes with a flower attachment which makes streams as if the water is coming out of a faucet.

Cats like fresh, moving water. We got ours this water fountain and while she still splashes at it a bit she has yet to knock it over since it's pretty heavy. Before we bought the fountain I had her dish in a big shallow storage box so if she did spill the water it didn't spread out all over the floor. Or like the other suggestion: place a few bowls around the house.

Edit: also, I've had it for 3 years and it still is great -- and when you clean it out, you should clean out the water pump thing too! Great fountain :)

It only has a low gurgle/bubble, so it's not like falling water. The sides stay relatively still and the bubble of water doesn't spurt very high from the top so it may be something that is attractive enough, but not too animate.

Give her time. Don't force affection on her. She may or may not be an affectionate kitty, who knows. With regards to water, she might use a cat fountain
