Thurn and Taxis is a game that I played once and absolutely fell in love with. I agree that it's definitely a LOT more fun than Ticket to Ride. I've yet to include it into my collection, but it's on my list of games to get in the near future.
Another game that I'd recommend over Ticket to Ride is Chicago Express. It seems similar, but where it differs is that instead of having your own rail company, you're investing in other companies to be able to build. This leads to players forming and breaking alliances rather frequently to get railways built.
Also, this is a Prime Deal.

Straight from Queen Games (the publisher of the games I bought).
Here's one for example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001LPGS1S/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There's various ones from other publishers, but Queen Games in particular is selling a lot of their games cheap.
It's still there:

$24 is an insane price for this game. I just bought 3 copies to give away as gifts.
This link also had the same issue as your other post, so here is a fixed link for those who are interested.
