I feel like I'm posting about USB too much here, but people keep asking because it's easy to get confused about it. I just copied the table I made a while ago in a comment and added FAQs and notes for outside the US.

I hope this answers what people are really looking for better than the other threads.

Do you have some specific need I didn't answer? Have a USB-C charger you're curious about that isn't listed? Ask in a comment. Just keep in mind that (other than the iPad one) USB-A chargers won't give you good speeds. This includes the chargers bundled with even the most recent phones by Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG, and HTC.

I'll use this comment to note some USB-C chargers I'm aware of but don't recommend:

Charging speeds vary

These chargers can give the Switch great speeds sometimes, but usually they're closer to just "okay". It seems to be random every time you plug it in. If the Switch is completely turned off (not just in sleep) when you plug it in, you'll almost always get those "great" speeds for as long as you keep it plugged in even after turning the Switch back on and playing. This happens because Nintendo's implementation of USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is very buggy. They're a hassle to use right for now, so I don't recommend them, especially since there are better alternatives now.

Charger|Price (USD)|Link|Notes
Anker PowerPort+ 5|$39.99|Amazon|Use the USB-C port. It also offers 4 USB-A ports. No USB cables included.
RAVPower 26800mAh USB-PD battery|$79.99|Amazon|
UGREEN 30W USB-PD charger|$17.99|Amazon|No cable included.

Safety issues

These don't damage the Switch, but they can damage other USB-C cables and devices, especially if you plug them in to something that doesn't make sense, like another charger. If you know how to use them right and you're careful, you won't damage anything, but why risk it? Get something else.

CHOETECH USB C 15W charger|Amazon|
Anker PowerPort+ 1 USB-C QC3.0|Amazon|Any USB-C port that offers QC3.0 has known issues

Great but expensive

If you have a USB-C laptop, feel free to get one of these, but otherwise don't bother. Plenty of chargers in my OP work just as well with Switch and are much cheaper.

Charger|Price (USD)|Link|Notes
Google 60W USB-C charger|$59.99|Google|Bundled with Chromebook Pixel 2, great for laptops, very long 12ft cable
Apple 61W USB-C charger|$69|Amazon, Apple|Bundled with 2016 13" MacBook Pro, no cable included when bought on its own. The 15-inch model's 87W charger is probably great too.
Apple 29W USB-C charger|$49|Amazon, Apple|Bundled with non-Pro MacBooks, no cable included when bought on its own. Poor speeds with most other non-Apple devices.
Innergie 45W USB-C charger|$59.99|Amazon|Works with the dock, great with laptops and phones too.

Unconfirmed speeds (and expensive)

These chargers are also too expensive to recommend. They probably work great, but I haven't seen any reports of people actually trying any of them. They all probably work with the dock too. If anybody has one of these, please tell me if it works with the dock.

Charger|Price (USD)|Link|Notes
Dell 45W charger|$49.99|Dell|Included with some Dell laptops.
Dell 45W Plus|$59.99|Dell|Use the USB-C cable. There's also a USB-A port for charging other devices.

Don't forget the certified 3A Type-C wall-charger they make as well!

$15.99 normally, $12.99 with code ZCU2CZDC

I jumped on this deal when AP posted it, but heads up; the promo codes don't stack properly. If you want both a cable and a wall charger, you need to order them separately for the codes to work. Don't worry, Amazon groups them together into one shipment on their own without you needing to specify.

I'm really looking forward to my set; paying $25 for a wall charger from Google kinda felt like the suck.

Be mindful of what accessories you personally need. People needs are different. The only global accessories that seem to be useful to everyone:

  1. A screen protector. This applies to pretty much any tablet accessory where the screen is not covered by design (like the 3DS clam shell). This is the one I got and it works well ($9.00):

  2. A carrying case. Being portable, odds are you will want to take it out at some point. Seeing it's an expensive piece of hardware, it makes sense to have a case to put everything in it for protection. You can buy the neat ones with colors and crazy designs and space, but for me, this basic one works perfectly fine ($13.00):

  3. An extra charger. Unless you already have a Type C charger, you will likely want to get one. Usually goes for $15.00.

  4. If, and ONLY if you plan to get your games digitally, you WILL want an additional memory card. The one I paste below has enough space for at least 20 games given the average game space that we've seen so far (BoTW takes 14 GB, but Mario Odyssey takes 5.5 Gb, so in average, it evens out.). Note this is only the games you can have installed at a time, you can always remove one or more if you want to download another one, and games you purchase digitally will always be available for re download as long as the eshop exists.

Any other accessory should REALLY be considered on a need-to basis. Not everyone needs a pro controller (depending on the games you play, I've been fine without it with only BoTW, Mario Kart, Fate/Extella and Mario+Rabbids.), and not everyone needs an extra, improved stand/dock.

Finally, do some research on what games you will actually want to play. What I've seen is that games on the switch are NOT cheap, and unless you have extra disposable income, buying a game you don't really play can lower your overall appreciation of the system. Not only that, but because releases are sparse at the moment, it's easier to jump into the hype in order to keep using your shiny new hardware. Though that really applies to any console.

u/jihiggs · 5 pointsr/AndroidQuestions

only way to get 3a over usb a charging is with a sufficient power supply and a non standard usb a-c cable. I have these two chargers

they are both very similar, but not quite as fast as the usb c charger that came with the phone.

they are both benson approved.

u/Xaan83 · 5 pointsr/Nexus6P

I am completely confused by AC Chargers. I have looked at the spreadsheet (not updated since 2015) that has links to Benson's reviews, I've checked this site: , and I've read a bunch of reviews on Benson's Google+ page, but I still don't get it. Seems like 99% of reviews are for USB C to USB A cables which I have no use for, and it is impossible to dig through them to find the less than handful of charger reviews.

I want a USB C charger capable of rapid charging that is not going to destroy my phone, but everything I read seems to have conflicting information. First someone says as long as it is USB C it is fine, then no, it's not fine because it has Quickcharge over USB C which is not spec compliant, people say it 'charges rapidly' then someone else says it doesn't... I see something through links/reviews on that is apparently a suitable alternative to the Google charger, but then big surprise, it's not available on

I didn't want to pay so much for the Google chargers, but at this point I may as well have...

So what is going on, are either of these spec compliant, rapid charge capable over USB C, and not going to destroy my phone? :edit: nevermind, this one is apparently NOT good because it has QC over USB C

I would have thought AC chargers would be something that people were commonly looking for, why is this info so hard to find?

u/masamunecyrus · 4 pointsr/Nexus6P

I've been using Choetech's USB Type C charger for well over a year with no issues.

u/coltwanger · 4 pointsr/Nexus6P

I've been using this one for over a year with no issues!

u/FrisbeeInSpace · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

Try this from Amazon. Make sure that you choose the USB-C one and not the QC 2.0 versions.

u/bogeythrim · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

I have this one and it rapid charges. I also have a car charger from the same company(cheotech) and it rapid charges as well.

u/Leraeniesh · 3 pointsr/Moto_Z

Dunno if there is a general recommendation, but I picked up this one about a month ago, and it works pretty well.

u/anthonyg45157 · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

Typically no there arent any cheapos out there i would feel safe using. Once USB C becomes more popular we will see prices drop.

That being said, I have this and it works perfect

u/Nirgan · 3 pointsr/nexus5x

I had same problem as you, I got advice to order Choetech from aliexpress (they sell there same stuff as on amazon and are aproved by Benson). This is link to their official aliexpress store. Links to the amazon stores where you can find approval by Benson
usb A<->C
and usb C<->C
From what I've seen, Benson doesn't test chargers itself, so I think only cables are risky (it has 4,5 stars on amazon too, here is link if you want to read reviews )

I ordered C<->C cable, A<->C cables and charger itself there. Charger came with one extra 1m (3,3ft) cable C<->C which i didn't expect, that's always nice

u/AttemptedWit · 3 pointsr/Android

Ah gotcha, but in the case like the Choetech where the charger only has one C port and no A ports, the QC branding should be a non issue?

Thanks for doing this! With USB-C being the future, your work, along with Bensons's, is extremely important for the future of the standard.

Edit: it appears choetech may have used old housings for this model which includes the QC stamp. I amy request an exchange to be safe.

I may contact amazon and Choetech anyway and request a refund just to be safe.

u/hagela · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

Yeah, sorry I was on mobile. I bought this one

u/bigceej · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Choetech makes excellent products! There cables and chargers are very high quality and affordable. If you want just 1 USB C port there is this

Or if you want a USB C and 2 USB A get this . Not usre why this is on pre-order again, maybe they just sold all there stock. But I preordered it the first time, they screwed up and accidentally sent everyone 2 USB cables they said I could keep them and they would still send me the charger. The charger is great, and the only one out there that meets USB C spec and has Usb A.

u/creynolds722 · 2 pointsr/essential

I got 3 of the Amazon basics 9ft chargers, listed on the 2nd link, plus 3 of this block:

They work really well as far as I can tell, not the cheapest option though.

u/Stevied1991 · 2 pointsr/windowsphone

I've been using this one. Has fast charging and everything.

Edit: You'll also need this if you want to plug it into a wall.

u/Teddyjo · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

You can use 3rd party chargers instead of oem. If it still won't charge it's probably the port which you can replace if you want to take the phone apart again.

u/SCVGoodT0GoSir · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I haven't needed to purchase a spare wall charger, but this one seems to have quite favorable reviews on Amazon. I don't have any personal experience with it though, unfortunately.

u/WarpedFlayme · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

This is the aftermarket charger that I use.

USB C Charger, CHOETECH 5V/3A 15W Type-C Wall Charger[USB C Cable Included]

Haven't had any issues.

u/deepdvd · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I have this one. It works great.

u/Rphilmacrac · 2 pointsr/Nexus6P

Not to hijack OPs post but I've been using this one:

USB C Charger, CHOE 5V/3A 15W Type-C Wall Charger for HTC 10, Lumia 950xl/950, Nexus 5x/6p and Other Type-C 5V Supported Devices

For at least a month or two and no problems so far. Being that this is Choetech like OPs, should I be concerned?

u/noteworthybalance · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I started to get this one (then decided I didn't need a second wall charger):

u/clocks212 · 2 pointsr/nexus5x

I just got this. Fast charges my 5x through the c port and my wife's note 4 through the a port. 100% fast charges and quick charges at the same time.

Quick Charge 2.0 + Type C Car Charger, BlitzWolf 33W 3A USB-C and Qualcomm QC2.0 5V/9V/12V USB Charger for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Sony Xperia, Google Chromebook Pixel, Nexus 6P 5X, HTC, LG (Black)

I use the iorange cables throughout my house and car for my 5x. They work great. These are the wall chargers I use:

USB C Charger, CHOE 5V/3A 15W Type-C Wall Charger for HTC 10, Lumia 950xl/950, Nexus 5x/6p and Other Type-C 5V Supported Devices

u/pbanj_ · 2 pointsr/GooglePixel

I have a few from this company and they work great. Mine are an older model that I've had since I got my Nexus 5x. They work perfectly for my 3a. Also if you want official Google ones they have them on their store

u/kill3rmonk · 2 pointsr/pixel_phones

I've been buying the Choetech cables for my 6p and have had no issues.

Just one example:
Choetech USB-C Pack

Choetech Wall Charger

I meant the USB-C wall charger here

u/adamadamada · 1 pointr/nexus5x

Awesome to see type-c chargers, but this one is not what I need. Anyone have a lead on any other type-c chargers?

I bought this one, but I returned it as defective.

u/st8chic · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Choetech CC cables and AC cables at cheaper prices without coupon.
And a 5V 3A USB C Wall Charger from Choetech.

u/Bluegodzill · 1 pointr/nexus5x

I'd say this thing. I have one similar to it that isn't sold anymore, but it's still working while my original adapt bricked.

u/awweaver · 1 pointr/ProjectFi

USB C > USB Micro

Wall Plug > USB C

I purchased these because I thought the cables included with my N6P were dreadfully short. They do charge my device "rapidly"

u/womtei · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Is this charger and usb-c to usb-c cable any good? Has anyone used these before? Do you have any recommendations?

u/byronbrewer · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

That was my assumption but thought it was worth asking with all of the confusion over Type-C. I thought I understood what I could and couldn't use until I noticed that the Choetech USB-C charger that worked fine with my Nexus 6p wouldn't charge my Pixel. Now I'm just confused on what should and shouldn't use.

I'm worried that I can't use the [Aukey Type-C car adapter] ( I used for my Nexus 6p. Worked fine on the 6p but don't want to risk it on the Pixel knowing all the problems out there.

Maybe I'm just overthinking all of this?

u/Xsavier · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I have a pixel phone so I had an 18w charger already. Maybe use the switch USB cable in the interim.

Edit: thinking back it didn't phase me that it didn't have a wall adapter. I do find it odd they don't provide one at this price.

Here is an adapter to fill that void

u/H20man83 · 1 pointr/GooglePixel

I looking for a wall charger, the reviews for the Cheotech:
claim it is Benson approved but I haven't been able to verify it on any of the list, am I missing something?

u/legion02 · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

This one, by all accounts, is supposed to be good. Cheaper than the Google chargers and legitimately capable of 3A charging.

u/SWATZombies · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

USB Type C Charger, CHOE 3A Rapid Wall Charger with the Latest Charging for Lumia 950xl/950, Nexus 5x/6p and Other USB-C Supported Devices (No cable included)

They also sell USB C cables for about 6 bucks.

u/extrememezz · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Any proper USB C spec charger will rapid charge. I have a few of these and they work great with no issues.

u/ohmightyboognish · 1 pointr/Nexus6P

Just bought an extra charger and got this one: USB C Charger, CHOETECH 5V/3A 15W Type-C Wall Charger [USB C Cable Included] for Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel/Pixel XL, Lumia 950xl/950, Nexus 5x/6p

Works well and does rapid charging. Nexus 6p displays that it is rapidly charging when plugged in. Hope this helps.

u/JohnnyPhantom · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I've looked around my self, as I wanted to buy both a battery and a USB C wall charger for the switch and the battery, and I've decided to get this one, I'll let you know

I also got the battery from the previous reply

My stock charger mysteriously stopped working just a couple months after getting the phone. Cord was fine but the brick was shit. I got the Choetech charger. Works good, seems as fast as the stock one. I'm not sure about the cable that comes with it, that wasn't included when I purchased it.

If you go to the "Frequently Bought Together" section of this item, you can buy your USB C on both ends cable, USB C wall charger, and USB C car charger in one fell swoop:

u/Panther90 · 1 pointr/nexus5x

May have answered my own question, would something like this work? USB C Charger, CHOETECH 5V/3A 15W Type-C Wall Charger for Nintendo Switch, Google Pixel/Pixel XL, Lumia 950xl/950, Nexus 5x/6p and Other Type-C 5V Supported Devices (No Cable Included)

u/LIGHTNINGBOLT23 · -1 pointsr/gaming

Buy this for $27.

And buy this adapter for $17.

Then add a few bucks of shipping. Congratulations, that's around the price of $50, with a whole $40 to spare! Don't spend ALL that $40 on a plastic mold and overpriced Monster branded HDMI cables though!

u/drydiddy · -16 pointsr/Nexus6P

Hey bud, 6p does not support fast charging. It'll just be regular, although a bit faster due to the difference in currents from a normal USB charger.
