One of my favorite Schadenfreude stories:

I have an ex who had a bright red Chevy Beretta, that looked just like this. He loved that car. He named her Valerie. He loved that car, I believe, more than he loved me. He certainly put her first in the MFF relationship we had. I was barely allowed to touch her. And she certainly was a bitch, moreso than Christine (okay, maybe not moreso, but I'm pretty sure the two wenches were related), and Valerie did not like me. If I was in the car, she would stall or not brake properly, or have some other minor hiccup. And my boyfriend would always make sure to, loudly, blame it on the fact that I was in the car, and that Valerie was jealous, and really didn't like me. Because, you know, clearly the car had a personality.

Now, you get the picture that this guy was an asshole, right? You're right, he was. I finally wised up, and broke up with him because he was an asshole. But we remained friends. A couple of months later, he was dating someone else, I was dating someone else. I turned 21. I went out on a bar tour with a bunch of friends, and my ex (and his gf) came along. My bf, 19 at the time, did not. My ex, however, being the DD of the night, dropped everyone else off (who was riding in Valerie, that is), then took me to my place, and came in to get me settled. And fucked me. He said he had my consent, but he was sober, I and I was about 10 sheets to the wind. When my boyfriend found out, he lost respect for me that he never gained back (I think, possibly, to this day), because I cheated on him. After all, I chose to get drunk, therefore I chose to have sex. It wasn't until many years later that I realized... this was rape.

And posting that is my little way of still trying to reclaim my body. So, just let me leave that there, k?

Anyway. Years later, we haven't spoken in quite a long time. But he still has my phone number, because I haven't changed it. I get this text on my phone from a number I don't recognize. It's an image.

It's Valerie. Totaled. Apparently some dude ran a red light and smashed her pretty bad. Banged up my ex pretty good, too (unfortunately, not as badly as I'd've wished).

That was the first time I truly, truly delighted in the physical pain and property damage of someone else. I was grinning like a fool for a week after that.

Wow, maybe this car was made in the same plant as Christine... you should definitely cut your losses and have it scrapped, as /u/jefferey1313 suggests.
