I have some book recommendations for you.

Both of these books were written by foreigners for other foreigners. What makes that so good is that they aren't trying to pull any punches with the Americans, since they aren't the target audience.

Ciao, America was written by an Italian who came to live in this US for a year with his family. The book is intended for other Italians and he tries to explain all the things he found so odd. His description of eating in a Waffle House was so funny that I just about had a rupture. In another section he tries to explain what an RV is. Hilarious! Here's a link.

Another similar book is this one. The author was a BBC News correspondent and lived in the US for many years. The author also gave an interview to the London School of Economics about the book. Video is available and can be seen here.

When town hall is open for two hours and every department locks their doors during that period you learn to love American bureaucracy. :-)

It's a leeeeetle dated however was funny to me back in the day. https://www.amazon.com/Ciao-America-Italian-Discovers-U-S/dp/0767912365
