Reddit reviews Citizen Kane (Two-Disc Special Edition)

There's a good copy of Citizen Kane for exactly $12.34.

This looks like it.

I have purchased this version twice now (lost one by loaning it out). Now there is a Ultimate Edition Blu-ray but I don't know if the Ebert comm. is on it. I'm sorry I assumed you had already heard it. If you get a chance, it will blow your mind how much you may have missed the first time around.

Example: Welles repeatedly places the camera 'over the shoulder' of characters who are listening to Kane's former friends and lovers, continuously placing us the viewer in a similar perspective of 'witness' to the story being told. Our empathy then belongs to the 'hearer' of the story rather than the 'storyteller' themselves. As a result, we consider the tellers of the story with greater suspicion and doubt, as it should be.

My two favourites are

• Ebert's commentary on Citizen Kane
  
• Some (possibly all) Pixar Blu-rays have a mode to watch the film where it will automatically pause the film to show a special feature associated with the scene. It's very in depth and you really see how much effort has gone into every minute detail. The Inception Blu-ray also has a similar mode.
